The larrivees, i really wonder if the sd-50 out powers a d-05.

I've never played a d-05 but, I just picked up an SD50 & I can
certainly tell you that this is an absolute cannon.

I couldn't believe how powerful & articulate the SD50 is. I've got
3 Martins & this guitar out volumes them all. (except maybe my
12 string)

oh & btw, I own 2 Taylors as well. These are my plug & play
acoustics. Great guitars for live application but, neither can hang
w/ my Martins or the Larry unplugged.

(I'm having a K & K Pure Western Mini installed in the Larrivee
tomorrow) We'll see how that goes..................................

I have no idea. I have never heard the clips & I've only heard

one other Larrivee & that was at least a year ago so I dont

remember if it sounded the same as my SD50.

The first thing I noticed about the SD was how loud & powerful

it sounded. It was so evident. It was crisp & clear & rang like a

bell. I was even amazed at how well it sustains for a mahogany

body. I knew I had to have this guitar the second I heard it.

If you want to hear a guitar , please dont judge it by any sound clips you hear on the internet - alot of that sound depends on the Microphone, how it was recorded as well as what they recorded it on.( sound clips really depend on who recorded it and how they were recorded .) They can make a great guitar sound {censored}ty or a {censored}ty guitar sound great. Go to a larry dealer or Taylor dealer for your self and play the guitar before you make your judgement- I do know how tough that can be, in my little town unless your looking for a Fender electric your out of luck , but i personnaly can say from experience you shouldnt buy something you can get your hands on before you buy . make some calls and do some driving ! There all fine Instruments !

Sounds like my reaction to the one and only Santa Cruz I have had to pleasure of trying. The other thing I noticed is how light the SC felt. I've gotten to play a number of -03 and -05 Larry's, and also less frequently a few -09's, but haven't had the pleasure of playing either of the SDs.

I wish I could tell you if the SD-50 outpowers a D-05. I just have
never played an 05.

One thing you could do is go here:

There are some very good folks there. Some of which may just
have experience w/ both of those models.

Good luck.
