that you've yet to play?

From everything you've read/heard/gathered throughout the years from the internet/publications/grape vine.

You know, the one you're lusting for because of all the hype but still haven't managed to get a hold of?

I'll start:

-Price/performance considered: Blueridge ('cause of all the amazing reviews), albeit, soon to be replaced by Johnson Carolina Series II

-All categories included: Collings D2A

Bon Picking.

'best' is so subjective.

that said, I'm not complaining with a Collings D1A and OM1A.

still looking for the perfect more 'modern' sounding fingerstyle guitar....I've had teriffic GAS for a Lowden F but I haven't found the right one yet....

Just to clarify, I shouldn't have used "best" in the title. What I meant to say was: which guitar (s) has piqued your interest the most, but that you've never had the chance to play.

In that case Olson,McPherson,Charles Fox,Kevin Ryan, etc. Baically the guitars you'd almost have to sell your house to get one.

Believe it or not, but I've never played a Martin D-28 or OM-21 so I'd love to see for myself what's considered "the standard". I'd also like to try out one of those Norman Blake signature 000s with the slothead and 12 fret clear neck.

I'd also like to build up the guts to try a Breedlove. Not one of the Atlases, but an honest-to-God made-in-the-USA Breedlove concert with Myrtlewood back/sides and see if they sound as pretty as they look.

I'd also love to try out:

Collings OM-1

Taylor 714

Guild F412

Paragon grand OM

... and a whole bunch of others that escape me right now.

For me it's the guitar I took delivery of on Thursday.

Martin 000-28EC

I also have a Epi Elite J-200 that plays very well.

The Martin just seems to fit me though.

I've never had the chance to play any Larrivee or any of the Godin guitars. I would love to have the chance. In fact, now that I think about it, I would love to have a music shop, mostly guitars, where I could play any guitar I wanted, any time. haha

I don't know how it happened, but somewhere along the line I turned into a guitar snob. Strange since I've spent very little in my acoustic purchases up to this point. Besides being (rightly) dressed down here I was also humbled by a $700 Washburn jumbo.

I may have to see what all the hubbub is about Godin's many brands and also give Taylors another go. It doesn't change the fact that I have bad GAS for a Larrivee though. :o

godin is the way to go... as far as i've seen they don't have any high end guitars, but i'd take my seagull over any martin or taylor i've played yet.. well maybe not

You tell 'em, coldplytkmn.

That said, anybody ever play a Lakewood (German in ancestry, I believe)? I read somewhere that it's kind of like the "European Larrivee".

Oh, and a variax.

Seagull's are amazing ,, especially for the price.... My personal favorite is a martin kit guitar that i had a guy put together for me .... i am bless with living in kalamzoo michigan ...and was able to have an ex gibson employee that didnt leave town, build me up one. Nothing fancy and no gingerbread, other than shaller tuners..... Every chance i get, i play expensive high end acoustic guitars .... and i always come home... and and realize ,,that i am happy with what i have...... They will never bring a high price.... I picked up the second one from a friends estate .....for 500 bucks........they sound a little different due to the way the braces have been worked down .... but they play clike clones of each other.......rat

Best bang for the buck will probably be a Seagull...

Best guitar I've YET to play?? That would be a custom built Paragon maple/spruce jumbo that I want built and cannot afford to have built! My current Paragon is incredible (walnut/cedar minijumbo), so I can only imagine what a maple jumbo would sound like....

I've played a number of Lakewoods. I don't know that I would make too direct a comparison to a Larrivee. The Lakewoods are a bit more delicate in tone that a Larrivee. But that being said, I really liked all three Lakewoods I have played. Very nice guitars and very well built!
