Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 ..we've got a couple of interesting threads on the board. Handicap and Asset (pardon me while I open a bottle of wine..) I wish I could dream up a nice opener for this thread, something like a "d03nut" opener...hmm. Mabey I should let him figure out the topic. It's right up his alley. Whatever it is.. I guess I'm just thinking these two threads have caused everyone to be a little introspective. Mabey a little more than usual. It almost seemed to me each post on these threads could be a thread of it's own. I've only had a sip or two of wine now, so don't be thinking JT's drunk. d03nut?
Members d03nut Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 Well JT, sorry buddy, I think I got you beat already since I'm already on my, oh I don't know, 5th bottle of beer and 1 glass of white. With that in mind, how 'bout: "handy assets" when you're playing your acoustic, tangible or non-tangible..............
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 probably just a reflection of my mood lately... the introspect... been questioning things lately... like why i dropped out of college two years ago to pursue music, but all i've really accomplished is playing a few gigs and writing a few tunes... i know i made the right decision, but its just one of those days you know
Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Author Members Posted February 14, 2006 Eh, there's a thread in here somewhere, I just know it. C'mon you guys...
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 what are you guys drinking tonight?
Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Author Members Posted February 14, 2006 Originally posted by d03nut "handy assets" when you're playing your acoustic, tangible or non-tangible.............. Wait a minute, that might work. Yes, that's it. Thanks!
Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Author Members Posted February 14, 2006 Shiraz- "the little peguin". Cheap, but good.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 man that makes me want shiraz right now... anybody here drink port?
Members kwakatak Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 Man, that explains it. You guys are just a bunch of lushes! Here I am sober and just reflecting on what I could've done with my life and trying to find out where I went wrong. As if I could fix it! Aw, fugg it - I need to go get a Yuengling (or two or three)! BTW - what's up with the sig, JT?
Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Author Members Posted February 14, 2006 Originally posted by kwakatak BTW - what's up with the sig, JT? I thought it was hilarious. It seems loaded to me. Like it's such a typically human thing to watch a wreck, even though it's terrible and we'll regret looking because the image will never be forgotten. I'll change it if you like. Was planning to soon anyway. I've seen a few wrecks.

Was planning to soon anyway. No, don't. I just can't claim credit for it. I heard it somewhere but I can't remember when or where. I'm not independently witty. I probably saw it on TV late at night and my half-asleep mind soaked it in unawares.
Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Author Members Posted February 14, 2006 ..He blew his mind out in a car He didn't notice that the lights had changed A crowd of people stood and stared They'd seen his face before... Mabey?
Members kwakatak Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 Nope. I'm not that big a Beatles fan. More likely it was a comedian with a sadistic sense of humor, like George Carlin, Dennis Leary or Rodney Dangerfield. I watched entirely too much TV in my youth and probably got that adult version of ADD.
Members d03nut Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 But Kwak you are funny, and I quote: "I'm not independently witty". Now that makes me laugh. I'd buy that t-shirt.......
Members JasmineTea Posted February 14, 2006 Author Members Posted February 14, 2006 Say Clip, if having this incredibly stupid thread on the board with your name on it is a prob, I'll delete it. Looks like it's not gonna take off anyway. Either way.

Every time I hear one of your recordings, it is abundantly clear to me that whatever the hell decisions you made to lead you to that recording - dropping out of college, joining the circus, even buying a Tak - you've made the right decisions. I know people who play better and sing better and perhaps write better lyrics, but something in the way all the elements come together in your work makes you the clearest case I've encountered of someone I think is actually going to "make it" in the nutty-ass music industry. You're a talented fu*ker. I'd have dropped out of college too if I had your gifts. Hell, I STAYED in college, and I don't even have a few gigs to show for it... JT, you're another one. You can both kiss my ass. In fact, everyone with serious talent can kiss my ass! I am declaring today Talentless Fu*ker Day! Yay for us! Wait... today is Valentine's Day... OK, TOMORROW is Talentless Fu*ker Day...

Although I have this ..notion it'd be inappropriate. Ok so... Now what?
Members kwakatak Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 I'm with knockwood. You made the right choices. It's better to try than to give it all up and go the safe route. Take it from somebody who walked away from being a musician in favor of a "normal" life. Your grass looks greener than mine, dude.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 i live in a loft... no grass... sorry.
Members kwakatak Posted February 14, 2006 Members Posted February 14, 2006 Originally posted by Cldplytkmn i live in a loft... no grass... sorry. Yeah, I'm not allowed that stuff either! Bummer, dude!
Members JasmineTea Posted February 15, 2006 Author Members Posted February 15, 2006 So, looks like they deleted the zen thread.
