Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 20, 2006 Members Posted February 20, 2006 Had a session today with an electric guitarist... he played this amazing old gibson hollowbody... smaller than a 335, firebird style headstock, elongated diamond F-holes... had a strange tailpiece that had a wood piece built into it... i'd guess that it was a 70s model, but i really have no clue... i'm pretty sure it had humbuckers, but i was way too busy watching his left hand to take that mental note... anybody know what it is? i ask you cats cause i don't trust those electric forum dudes. plus the thread would be buried within 20 minutes. i know we got some gibson afficionados here.
Members martingibson70 Posted February 21, 2006 Members Posted February 21, 2006 http://www.elderly.com/vintage/cats/40U.html This is a link to a bunch of vintage Gibson hollow bodies on the Elderly site. I know what you mean about threads getting buried in the electric forum. Hey Cldplytkmn, I just got a 1979 Guild 412. It's the best 12 string I've ever heard.
Members 54merk Posted February 21, 2006 Members Posted February 21, 2006 http://www.provide.net/~cfh/gibson3.html#tl Definitely the Trini Lopez Standard which were made from 64 to 71. The Standard model had an ES335 body and the diamond f holes you describe, while JT's link was the Deluxe model which had a thicker body and lacked those funky holes. Check out the link for pictures of both.
Members jackwr Posted February 21, 2006 Members Posted February 21, 2006 At least it's a hollow body and no amp talk.
Members suprswd Posted February 21, 2006 Members Posted February 21, 2006 DID HE USE AN AMP? now its electric-talk. rofflecakez.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 21, 2006 Author Members Posted February 21, 2006 A)yeah he used a Carr amp... killer... B)its most definitely the trini lopez standard... seemed smaller than a 335 in body dimensions... oh well... at any rate, killer guitar.
