As for the finish, it just depends on how you treat it...I've not noticed that the finish on my various Guilds is any more "fragile" than any other guitar I own.
Members Tony Burns Posted February 20, 2006 Members Posted February 20, 2006 Tough to say why they crack so easily, probably the way the finish was applied , My Greven did the same thing when it was new, but hasnt changed much over the past 25 years. My Guild D-55 to the best of my knowledge has only a few small minor finish crack -- personnaly i like finish Cracks, they give the guitar a more vintage look, and it might also be that the finish has relaxed somewhat and gives the guitar a better sound . ( not sure if this philosophy has any basis to it - but this makes scence to a certain degree ) F50R are Fantastic Guitars , very boomey - these big bodies make great 12 strings - I almost like Maple better when it comes to big guitars - whats your thoughts on this ?
Members Apollo Posted February 21, 2006 Author Members Posted February 21, 2006 Maple or Rosewood? I'm not sure .........I would have to play them both for a while before I could be sure which I prefer. The maple tends to have a brighter sound while the Rosewood is a little more deep and warm. I really love the way the Flaming Maple looks! Its going to be a tough decision!
