Home Made Picks?

harness leather makes great picks. Pretty darned close to fingers but different. I use a standard Fender pick as the outline, cut it out and use a rasp to smooth the edges and give it a taper.

I've also made picks from thin hardwood as well as some other stuff, including flattened pennies.

Any decent leather shop, or most feed stores, will have it. You can also find old heavy belts at thrift stores and they will work fine as long as they are still stiff.

What I actually use is an old 2" wide, thick belt that was used to hang a tool belt from. Works great.

I'm out of them now, gotta make some more, or I'd send you a couple. People keep stealing them from me.

If you have a felt bass pick, it's nearly the same sound but it is different. They last quite a long time too, :D unless some A-hole steals them.

I love the sound that I get from my guitar -fresh strings on- with the inside of my index finger during the upstroke (to my thumb's downstroke).

I can almost "hear my finger print"........

For pick material, I would love to find something that can emulate that sound..........

Dude, that sounds sweet. If you get around to making some more, I'll pay for a couple.

I use the orange picks with the turtle on them, don't know the brand, but they feel perfect. I've been using them for as long as I can remember.
