Members JasmineTea Posted February 25, 2006 Members Posted February 25, 2006 I use old credit cards. Any other ideas?
Members d03nut Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 New credit cards. Well, at least in my case it don't make no difference.
Members daklander Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 harness leather makes great picks. Pretty darned close to fingers but different. I use a standard Fender pick as the outline, cut it out and use a rasp to smooth the edges and give it a taper. I've also made picks from thin hardwood as well as some other stuff, including flattened pennies.
Members suprswd Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 just go buy some picks for 10 cents. seems more reasonable to me.

Any decent leather shop, or most feed stores, will have it. You can also find old heavy belts at thrift stores and they will work fine as long as they are still stiff. What I actually use is an old 2" wide, thick belt that was used to hang a tool belt from. Works great. I'm out of them now, gotta make some more, or I'd send you a couple. People keep stealing them from me. If you have a felt bass pick, it's nearly the same sound but it is different. They last quite a long time too, unless some A-hole steals them.
Members d03nut Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 I love the sound that I get from my guitar -fresh strings on- with the inside of my index finger during the upstroke (to my thumb's downstroke). I can almost "hear my finger print"........ For pick material, I would love to find something that can emulate that sound..........
Members lalatingstrings Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 ill agree with the leather.i also used to use old matchbooks, with the part you strike the match against removed of course.but i have not done that in quite a few years.it was a phase.
Members rhat Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 I have a pick thats made out of heavy felt. It has to be treated with somthing due to the fact that its pretty stiff ,,,, i dont use it ,, i was in a bunch of stuff that was with my dads bass rig ..... rat

I use the orange picks with the turtle on them, don't know the brand, but they feel perfect. I've been using them for as long as I can remember.
