Members d03nut Posted February 25, 2006 Members Posted February 25, 2006 In light of the recent "pathetic character assassination attempt" on my signature, I thought I would ask eff-effs (fellow forumites) to share any funny or amusing stories, humorous anectodes, one-liners or most preferrably embarrasing scenarios regarding our favorite instrument. I just would like some funny things posted so I can read them late at night PUI and have a chuckle or two. Obviously I'd like all the funny stuff to be made from "scratch", no googling for jokes please. So with that in mind, here's a couple that I thought of while showering this morning: *Highschool survey wants students to name their favorite musical instrument. All the usual suspects were named: drums, violin, acoustic guitar, etc. One student wrote: my organ. *What's the most popular mod. for acoustic guitars in Brokeback Mountain: a bone saddle. Ok, these were really bad examples. Now can you please indulge me with a few good ones that even electric guitar players can understand? Bon picking.

Consider the source. The guy is too wishy-washy to have an informed opinion on anything guitar related.
Members suprswd Posted February 25, 2006 Members Posted February 25, 2006 yeah i dont understand his posts, lol >_

(not that this one's that far off, musical anecdotes are fun) Or at least ask a good question once in a while. And if you can't appreciate d03nut's humor, point and click.
Members d03nut Posted February 25, 2006 Author Members Posted February 25, 2006 Thank you JT. Thank you Cldply. I'll take it from here. First I would like esteemed members who are reading this with amusement to do a quick search on Suprswd to see first-hand the kind of "intelligent" repartee this fella can come up with. Suprswd (and your ilk), take a chill pill. Dude you can barely go beyond one sentence without inserting a smilie (or other gimmicky stuff) and a "should I buy this or should I buy that" followed by a kiss-ass comment. And that's not "stupid". Dude......... Granted, I feel in many instances that I'm putting somewhat lame material out there. But I do it knowingly because I've concluded that most posters here realize that I usually put myself in a vulnerable position (given the nature of my posts) thus becoming an easy target for put-downs. But that I do so in order to get interesting stuff out of the readers. People who choose to respond, try to "fix" my threads with their -yes- "intelligent and knowledgeable" posts. Get it? That's my raison d'etre here at the HC. What's yours (and yours)?

Members d03nut Posted February 26, 2006 Author Members Posted February 26, 2006 JT, you're gonna get me in even more trouble (or disfavor). But I can't help it. Here we go: The effect of nuts on acoustic guitars. Discuss......
Members riffmeister Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 speaking of oxymorons, here's one of my favorites: civil war
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 Originally posted by d03nut The effect of nuts on acoustic guitars. Discuss...... you can put them inside and you've got a shaker built in... eat some, and use your greasy fingers to condition your fretboard.
Members JasmineTea Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 Peanut oil. See, we're on topic. wtf...

Members d03nut Posted February 26, 2006 Author Members Posted February 26, 2006 Ok couple of things: Another oxymoron for you Riff: how 'bout a civil wedding. I don't think so, in the long run...... And also, I'm going to go on-topic by re-emphasizing the nut portion of my "effect of nuts on acoustic guitars" query. No, really, how important is the nut? 'Cause I'll be receiving my bone saddle this week (via Bob Colosi). Am excited to see what all the fuss is about.

I still haven't installed them on my guitar........so let me know what I am missing. 'jumbo shrimp'.......yeah, I like that one......
Members Cldplytkmn Posted February 26, 2006 Members Posted February 26, 2006 you gotta figure as long as your nut is cut correctly, the only upgrade you'd be doing on the nut would be for open strings.

The nut will only effect the tone of the open strings. ...Pistachios. Shelled.
