Members DirrtyCraig Posted February 28, 2006 Members Posted February 28, 2006 In the past I've been recording acoustics with cheap acoustic/electric hybrids and was never happy with the tinny fake sound..Even the my Taylor sounded tinny and harshplugged in. So A few months ago I bought a good all solid wood classical nylon string and it sounds pretty good.. so I thought I'd get a condenser mic and try recording this thing tonight.. I got a Audio-Technica Pro-24 stereo condenser. It seems pretty cool and it was only $80.. Just a 3 chord vamp and one take improv.. no Eq'ing just added some reverb.http://hair-metal.com/tunes/spanish.mp3 On my monitors it sounds great, on my PC speakers it sounds too boomy.. what do you guys think of the sound EQ-wise? Is there like an EQ curve for acoustics that a standard ? I mic'ed it straight on into the soundhole about 4 inches away.
Members kwakatak Posted February 28, 2006 Members Posted February 28, 2006 Try pointing the mic at the 14th fret from about 12-18" away and angling it slightly toward the soundhole. As for EQ, it's best to leave it flat, but whatever you did sounds fine too. That's a good quality microhpone too.
