Members babablowfish Posted March 10, 2006 Members Posted March 10, 2006 I have been using this stuff for a few months now and it seems to prolong the life of the strings - that is the strings sound "fresh" after the time they ordinarily would have been sounding dead. I don't know if this is a placebo effect, but thought I'd pass it along. Anyone else out there using this? Of am I using the absolute worst product out there oblivious to products far better and/or cheaper. If the latter, please let me know what works better.
Members Hendrix95 Posted March 10, 2006 Members Posted March 10, 2006 I use it and it definitly makes a difference. I tend to sweat alot and kill strings really fast. Fast Fret seems to make them last much longer.
Members Eppito Posted March 10, 2006 Members Posted March 10, 2006 I've been using the stuff since the 80's. I have highly acidic sweat that can eat strings alive in no time, but thanks to FF, their lives are extended much longer than normal.
Members Hudman Posted March 10, 2006 Members Posted March 10, 2006 I used Fast Fret in the past. It works great. I tend to change my strings more often now.
Members lalatingstrings Posted March 10, 2006 Members Posted March 10, 2006 i like fast fret alot.it really does help when you want to play fast too.

Beer does that. Beer makes you play faster, better and sing like a champ. It also makes you 10 foot tall and bullet proof.Just don't pour it on (or in) your guitar.....

Members Gretsch Fan Posted March 11, 2006 Members Posted March 11, 2006 I have wanted to try the fast fret but wasn't sure if it was as good as it claimed. Thanks to this thread I have an excuse to hit a guitar store tomorrow.
Members sonrise Posted March 11, 2006 Members Posted March 11, 2006 I try to remember to put it on everytime I play..A product that definitley will always be in my case...
Members Cldplytkmn Posted March 11, 2006 Members Posted March 11, 2006 if used just barely i like it... if you put enough on there to grease up a chicken for frying, then i'd rather just pass.
Members PieterH Posted March 11, 2006 Members Posted March 11, 2006 I love this stuff and now keep a tube in every guitar case. A few years ago I was playing acoustic guitar in a touring theatre show with something like 1-3 performances 5-6 days a week. We changed strings every other week - FastFret was so effective that the other guitarist started using it and bought his own after three weeks. Of course it doesn't cure all ills, and there is nothing like new strings, but it is a veritable good compromise if one does not have unlimited resources/infinite supplies of strings. As a footnote, I have started using D'Addario's coated extended play strings on my Guild D 35, and they seem to do what it says on the box. I may post again after a few more rehearsals/gigs, but so far they still sound (and look) good!
Members KATMAN Posted March 11, 2006 Members Posted March 11, 2006 I don't use GHS-Fast fret, but I've used Dr.Stringfellow in the past. You use it AFTER you play.Spray it on,wipe it off, keeps the grime off of the strings.
