Members 57GLDTP Posted March 11, 2006 Members Posted March 11, 2006 I own both Martins & Taylors. I have various pickups in all my acoustics. For years my D35 was my go to live strummer. I had used my D41 a lot live as well. After trying a buddies ES equipt Taylor I had to get one. I have an 814CE that has been my main plugged in acoustic ever since I got it. The Taylor couldn't touch any of my Martins for miced up recording. However, The Taylors w/ the ES system simply wipe the floor w/ almost anything else I've used so far............until recently............ I recently purchased a Larrivee SD50 after picking it up & strumming it in the store. It is an absolute cannon. I put a K&K Pure Western Mini system in it & it is now hogging up a great deal of stage time normally occupied exclusively by the Taylor. Of the 2, Martin or Taylor, if you're going to be mainly using it for live application, I would lean towards the Taylor. I'm one who likes the ES system very much. If you think you'll be recording your acoustic, I would get the best sounding acoustic you can afford, regardless what it says on the headstock. Happy hunting. 57GT:)
