Members Hudman Posted March 13, 2006 Members Posted March 13, 2006 The first one was damaged during shipping. This one came with no defects or issues at all. I bought it as a "not factory sealed" discounted item from Music123. It looks great. It came with Elixer Polyweb strings. I'm not sure I like the strings yet (Nanowebs seem to sound better). I am impressed with it (for the price). It sounds pretty decent and it's nice and loud. It will improve with age too. It will make a great camping / take to work guitar. Here's a couple pics: ' alt='>'> ' alt='>'>

I think I told you before that I only use Ebay cash for guitar gear (well, it's my New Year's resolution for 2006 - let's see if I can stick to it - lol). I still had $120 to play with after buying my L-03 (I had a $900 budget). I sold a few more items on Ebay and added another $100 or so to the pot. I picked up the RD20SSB for $199 with free shipping. There's a group of guitar players that get together at work (Ford Motor Company - R&E Center Dearborn, MI) during lunch hour 2 or 3 times per week. They keep inviting me to join them. Also, my family does a lot of camping in the summer time. I wanted a guitar I would feel comfortable taking to work and out to the camp ground. That's why I bought the Alvarez. It also worked out that my birthday is in a couple days. My wife and kids bought me a Musicians Friend tweed gig bag, Dunlop capo and Korg CA-30 tuner to go with it as my birthday present. Trust me. It will be a long time before you hear about me buying a new guitar.

Although, it feels really comfortable as it is. The neck relief is perfect. There's no fret buzzing or other issues. I may take a bit off the bottom of the saddle when I change the strings. I'm going to wait and see how the current action grows on me. I was surprised how much volume it projects. It sounds a lot better than the $200 I paid for it. It's a great bargain. You helped me decide to order it based on the good things you said about yours. I see why now. Thanks! For the record: Don't hestitate to buy those discounted "not factory sealed" items at Music123. They are how they describe them. Brand new condition. No defects or damage. I fully expected to get a beat up guitar. I was sure I would be returning it. It was a gamble that paid off.
