Members onbluelines Posted March 15, 2006 Members Posted March 15, 2006 hello im looking to find some more guitarist to listen to that use open tunings. Im listening to leo kottke right now...i just want some excellent players. Thanks...for the suggestions.
Members Freeman Keller Posted March 15, 2006 Members Posted March 15, 2006 Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Ry Cooder, Chris Proctor, Lalrry Pattis, Duane Alman, Joni Mitchel, Kelly Joe Phelps, most of the old bluesmen, even EC on "Unplugged" and " Eric and Mr J". Modern players all over the place. Anyone playing slide. Me -except I'm not an "excellent player"
Members onbluelines Posted March 15, 2006 Author Members Posted March 15, 2006 hi thanks. To clarify i think im looking for more indieish folk stuff..... I will look into some of them i heard of most of them i believe thanks!
Members zookie Posted March 15, 2006 Members Posted March 15, 2006 Dougie Maclean, a Scottish folk singer-songwriter, uses open tunings. Check out songs like "Ready for the Storm" and "Caledonia". Richard Thompon also uses open tunings often. Listen to, for example, "1952 Vincent Black Lightning".
Members boboji Posted March 16, 2006 Members Posted March 16, 2006 There are so many grezat ones. The best I've heard is David Wilcox. Go on his website and look at his older stuff. Dougie Maclean. Overall favorite but he's almost always in C. Pierre Bensusan. Now you got me going. Peppino D'Augustino Tom Prasada Rao If you spend the time to look up all these guys your life will never be the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I'm drinking.....
