Members geek_usa Posted March 18, 2006 Members Posted March 18, 2006 After losing out on a Takamine EG523SC, I scored this Gretsch. Anybody know anything about Gretsch Jumbos? It looks really nice...just like a Gibson. Coincidentally, I'm selling my Taylor Big Baby here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7399973899 to help with funds. So I guess this is both a happy thread and a spam thread, lol.
Members Gretsch Fan Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 Sweet. Gretsch jumbos are excellent. The quality and sound far surpass the cost. Congrats.

What's an average cost for those Sierra Jumbos? I've tried looking online but it seems like there's virtually no information available for the G3738.

Members Gretsch Fan Posted March 21, 2006 Members Posted March 21, 2006 Sorry I missed the second part of your question. I believe from what I have read over the last several years that you got a good deal. They really sould sell for around $200-400 more than you paid for yours on eBay. You did well in that area. Retail would have been around $1200 or so. I may be a bit off but not much either direction. The sound quality will blow you away when you get it. When I picked up my Gretsch jumbo, I tried the Gibson and Taylor versions and foudn the Gretsch to have the better or at least as good of sound at a fraction of the J200 cost. The Taylor I tried was not even close but it may have had old strings or may have been a fluke.
