Members Cldplytkmn Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 yeah i'm gonna lay another one on you guys... since i can't play guitar right now, i've been listening to way more music than i should be... and especially this song that i've been working on... again, its one of the songs that doesn't really feature the acoustic guitar a ton, but i'm hoping it rings some of your bells... i'm pretty pleased with it. what good
Members JasmineTea Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Gotta like it. Can I make a suggestion? I could pm you if you'd prefer. Or I could just shaddap and enjoy it. Thanks for posting it.

Members JasmineTea Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Towards the beginning of the 6th measure of the outro, sounds like someone dropped a loaded breadbox on the floor. It's kinda in the background. I think I figured out what it is though: The organ. Dude must've done a slide on the keys and it ended up sounding unlike a slide. He does it again a little later and it does'nt sound as breadboxy. I assume you're going to fade out the end? If not, it might be a good idea. You could still keep the entire outro as is, and start the fade way-amost at the end and still pull off a gracefull fade. How do you like the vocal track?
Members JasmineTea Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 I also think a ride cymbal would be nice during the outro. I don't suppose that's do-able at this point. On second thought, the end is fine as it is. Sounds real cool Clip. It's one of those songs you rewind to hear it again. I hope the live version is twice as long.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted March 22, 2006 Author Members Posted March 22, 2006 i'm pretty pleased with the vocal track... a few shakes here and there that i actually like... a loaded breadbox?? haha... best critique ever... i have no idea what you mean but i'll keep listening... don't think i'll fade it... there is a ride cymbal tracked, it just might need some boost, my thoughts exactly on the ride issue. listening to it it sounds like maybe its there but doesn't sound very ride-like... yes i'll stretch it live, maybe write another verse or something... i just figured 'always keep em wanting more' rather than 'is this song over yet?'
Members JasmineTea Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Yeah, it's right at the beginning of the 6th measure. Right after the downbeat. I'm counting it in 6/8 time.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted March 22, 2006 Author Members Posted March 22, 2006 6/8 it is... i'll listen close on some good headphones when i get home
Members FingerBone Bill Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Man that's a good song; no it's a great song - I must admit to liking an earlier acoustic version you posted previously Steve but that's just me (I'd probably say the same thing to the Rolling Stones! ) BUT - it really suits your voice, has a great hook to it, the sort of song that stays in your head, love it. JT - less of the showing off with yer 6/8 timing - didn't you notice the little timer on the right hand side?

The second one starts at 02:35:05 or so thru 02:36 and sounds sorta like a big piece of sheet metal. I hear it on the left. The first one's on the left also.

Not overly obvious but, yep, I hear it too. You've got good ears JT - either that or you're listening through a decent sound system.
Members JasmineTea Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 Trusty old Sony MDR V600 headphones. I've got a better pair somewhere, but it's hard to enjoy music with them as they bring too much detail through. Good for mixing/editing though.
Members kwakatak Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 Freakin' AWESOME! I've said it before: this forum needs more soundclips!
Members Cldplytkmn Posted March 23, 2006 Author Members Posted March 23, 2006 i'm with you now jt... i have no freaking clue what that is, but i know its the keys somewhere, either the wurlibird or the b3... has to be cause it was never there before those were tracked... not sure if it annoys me, i'll have my guy solo it on saturday and see what we think... i couldn't even hear it on my computer speakers, but the ole headphones gave it up... i appreciate it, and the comments too... won't be long now i'll be hitting all you guys up to buy one of these freakin things.
Members djsrc Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 Trusty old Sony MDR V600 headphones. Pro Mobile D, for many moons. Many, many, moons. Puppies sit affectionatly on my lap. No longer puppies, just the best sound... SONY, MDR-V6. Serious and authentic representation of sound.
Members carguy Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 Cldplytkmn, When I try to play your clip on my mac it say "Playlist Format Not Recognized". Any idea why this won't play? What type of file did you upload? I'm dying to hear the clip.
Members djsrc Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 carguy! You've got a computer that is only used by 3% of all users, and you want to know why you can't read it? Dude, get a software translation engine, if you go MAC, period. Comments are welcomed.
Members Tedster Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 That song ...let's just say for right or wrong, it spoke to me. Thanks.
Members knockwood Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 Dude, way to kick arse. When can I buy the CD?

You want comments? OK. Two things I don't like: people telling what computer to use or what guitar to buy. Next time I buy a computer (or guitar) I'll check with you first.
