Members walfordr Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 You might have better luck in the Acoustic forum.
Members GAS Man Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 I haven't played one of those models but I did buy a EF341SC for my son. Takamines are good guitars, but the are possibly better suited for "cutting through the mix" in a band situation. For solo work you might want to consider that, as a general rule, USA brand names tend to have more bottom end to their tone. Gibson, Martin, Fender, Guild, Washburn, etc. Last year I picked up a Epiphone Masterbilt with solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides (forget the exact model no.) but I was very impressed with the projection and blance of its tone. It seemed to hit all the highs and lows and every thing in between. I would have bought that guitar, but that year my wife bought me a Martin, so I graciously accepted her generous gift. But the E.C. model she bought me wasn't really as much to my liking as the bigger broader tone of the Masterbilt Dreadnaught. I mean, it wasn't just boomy, it had a really balanced articulate tone. But that was a sampling of one.
Members DenverDave Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 Yeah - I own a EG334SC. It's a good guitar for what it does. They are pretty well built and have a pickup system that is a notch above most of the rest of the EG models. It sounds great plugged in and the EQ in the pickup gives it a lot of tonal variation and a good bottom end. The newer models have the pickup with the tuner built in. I got mine to be a stage guitar and I really like it so far. It can't touch my other acoustic - which is a custom built beauty - but it does the job well. I played a bunch of Takamine's before choosing this one and it, along with the EG530SSC and the EG523SC, seemed to me to be the best of the EG series Taks. I would haved loved to have gotten a EF series - but they are another $300 - $400 and more than I could afford.

Members stratogabor Posted April 8, 2006 Members Posted April 8, 2006 I had one.....it was just OK-traded up to the TAN16C-huge improvement!! I think there is a made in Japan A/E model in black that you could buy for about $850 EAN10C perhaps
Members Beachbum Posted April 8, 2006 Members Posted April 8, 2006 I'm a huge Takamine fan, I swear by them.Best overall guitars for combination of studio, stage, and general purpose.I'm of the opinion that you can't go wrong with a Takamine.
