Members grundig Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 Hi everyone. I had been looking for a "better" acoustic like a Larrivee or Taylor, when I came across a store that had a tremendous overstock of Norman (Godin) guitars. They practically begged me to try one of their B20's and so I did. Spruce top and laminate Cherry back. Pretty darn nice, especially for a guitar that is discounted to $315 Canadian. They must have about 15 B20's around, and they have a couple of High Gloss models there too. One of the High Gloss models has beautiful bear claws on the spruce top and is really pretty to look at. They want $430 for that one. On playing it, I thought the sound was somewhat muted compared to the regular B20's, but I'm not sure because the store was noisy. Can someone share some opinions about the B20's and whether they would spend the extra for the High Gloss version? Thanks, Fred

Members mrlucky7 Posted April 8, 2006 Members Posted April 8, 2006 The price does seem to be average as it is the normal price of the store I usually go to. Norman makes great guitars and the B20 is a good model. I myself prefer the satin finish over the gloss. You can also look at the B50 which is a good guitar. Godin has good mojo with their laminated cherrywood back and sides. I have played many B20 and B18 (cedar top) and I can tell you that there are big differences between 2 guitars of the same type. If they have so many of them, try them all and you'll see for yourself. If you do find a great one, you wont be dissapointed.

Beautiful Guitars, project really well. Never really liked the neck, a little thin for my big hands, sold her a couple of years ago. I did find an old A/V recording I did with my webcam one Sunday. http://www.acidplanet.com/Components/PlayFile.asp?asset=305428|1
