Members Tony Burns Posted April 11, 2006 Members Posted April 11, 2006 Dont do it- their only wall hangers !
Members Gretsch Fan Posted April 11, 2006 Members Posted April 11, 2006 You may be able to use the sharp fret edges as a slicer of some kind.
Members Khan Fused Posted April 11, 2006 Members Posted April 11, 2006 One of the kids next door actually purchased one of those $5.99 guitars (WTF were her parents thinking letting her do that?). Action 1/2 high. Tuners won't hold for more than 5 minutes even if you don't play the thing. Save your money and buy an Esteban .

Members carguy Posted April 11, 2006 Members Posted April 11, 2006 What you get when you buy a $5.99 guitar: a $5.99 guitar.
Members joe101 Posted April 12, 2006 Members Posted April 12, 2006 HEY! Don't knock it until you have tried it. The full size flat tops from National Music Supply are good beginner guitars. I bought 2, one for lap style practice and one for a gift. These guitars are the same quality (Solid wood not Plywood)as the $80.00 to $100.00 ones sold in the music stores in my area. These guitars are bought in large numbers in China. The bids are cheap and the shipping is high. But if I can buy a $100.00 guitar for $50.00, I don't complain. No they are not what the members here use but they are OK for learning. I use a nut extender but I lowered the action on the one for a gift. Not everyone can afford a $300.00 or higher guitar to be used as a hobby.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7405254666&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
Members Queequeg Posted April 13, 2006 Members Posted April 13, 2006 1/2 inch action should be just about right. but if you're one of those sissies with tender fingers, you can Zagerize that $5.99 guitar and use the razor-sharp frets to de-scale trout on your next outback adventure, or trip to the Walmart. Popeil's Pocket Tuna-Guitar!!!!!!!!!!Great gift idea for the self-mutilization sufferer in your family!
