Members rns900 Posted April 26, 2006 Members Posted April 26, 2006 Does anyone know the valueof a referbished gibson J-55 made in u.s.a
Members Cldplytkmn Posted April 26, 2006 Members Posted April 26, 2006 completely depends on how old it is and what condition.
Members rns900 Posted April 26, 2006 Author Members Posted April 26, 2006 well i havn't referbished it yet but rite now it is in prety bad condition. i am going to replace the top peice of wood and the two thin pecies of wood that is on the side of the guitar.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted April 26, 2006 Members Posted April 26, 2006 if you do all that, you're looking at very very minimal value... you'd probably get just as much out of it in its debilitated state... do you have pictures?
Members rns900 Posted April 26, 2006 Author Members Posted April 26, 2006 This is the front panel of the guitar. as you can see there is a big crack n it so that definataly needs to be replaced.
Members rns900 Posted April 26, 2006 Author Members Posted April 26, 2006 and this is the siding that needs to be replaces
Members Cldplytkmn Posted April 26, 2006 Members Posted April 26, 2006 well man it all depends on what you want out of it... the cost and effort to replace the top and sides is just probably not worth it... maybe one of our luthiers here can give a better suggestion (paging bjorn and Freeman). if you want to keep it for value, its going to lose all of it with the repairs... and if you keep it to play, if you replace the woods, its not going to sound anything like it did before.
