Members Hudman Posted April 29, 2006 Members Posted April 29, 2006 My second "hobby" (right up there with guitar) is watching NFL football. Especially, watching my pathetic Detroit Lions (shocking, I know, they do have fans ). Today is my football geek day. I will keep Sportscenter on all day. I won't actually be watching all of it, I will keep an eye on the progress and bitch about every draft pick the Lions make. Anyone in here planning to keep an eye on the draft today?
Members thedep3158 Posted April 29, 2006 Members Posted April 29, 2006 I'm a big football fan too. The Jaguars are my team. Looks like the Lions picked up some linebacking help with Sims from Florida State. The Jags don't have a pick until the 28th. We need linebacker help as well. Dep
Members kwakatak Posted April 29, 2006 Members Posted April 29, 2006 I'm not an in-depth sports nut but I like to support the home team. The Steelers did me proud last year and I'm still happy. It's baseball season so that's where my diversions lie for now. I'm hoping the Pirates can at least finish the season over .500 for once.

I wish they would have picked Leinart or Cutler as trade bait for extra picks. Denver traded up to to get Cutler #11 after Leinart was picked at #10 by the Cards (Lions Picked #9). We need as many draft picks as possible. We only have 6 this year due to a free agent trade last season. Our GM is the dumbest in the NFL (Matt Millen).

Check out the Tigers. They actually have a pulse this season. We are crushing the Twins (15 -1).
Members kwakatak Posted April 29, 2006 Members Posted April 29, 2006 Sorry, can't get behind any other team besides the Pirates, 'cept maybe for the Yankees. I told you: it's a home town thing. I'm originally from eastern PA and geographically Brooklyn is closer than South Philly, even if the Phillies have a minor-league ball club in Scranton.

I like you too much to suggest you become a Tiger fan. Heck, I'm barely a fan anymore. They have been the worst team in MLB over the past 15 years. You missed my point. The Tigers are over .500 for the first time at the end of April since 1993. My point is, there is hope for the Pirates (and anyone else) if the Tigers can keep it going.
Members kwakatak Posted April 30, 2006 Members Posted April 30, 2006 OK, so I must admit that you guys got me paying attention to the draft a little bit. I halfway heard a blurb about the Steelers pick today: Willie Reid from Florida State. The local talking heads here say he might be able to fill the void left by the departure of Antwaan Randal El. I think I heard that he may have a pretty good arm too. http://media3.steelers.com/article/63784/
