If you have unlimited access to any kind of woods and evrything else from nuts, tuners, any kind of materials etc. free of charge..

What would you make?

maybe someone (even a luthier) would pick up on the idea and actually make it. but i doubt it if your guitar uses diamond tuners!

so if u guys have time its ok to dream :)

Mine probably wouldn't be very original: red spruce top, brazillian back and sides, Waverly's. The area where I'd want some customization would be the neck profile - pretty thick - and the frets - wide and flat.

it may or may not have boobs on it, and it would be filled with flaming hot cheetos. short scale.

love,

000, braz back and sides, sitka grade A top, bearclaw and sliking all over the place. Low profile neck 1 3/4 nut and short scale. Lots of abalone and a bound fretboard. Open back vintage tuners. And boobs.

mine would be brimming to the top with great songs, waiting to be written...

as far as the build... slope dread quilted hog b/s... spruce... a rubbed 'burst finish on the top... bound in ebony... single 1/4" ring around the soundhole in ebony... no fretboard inlays... 1 3/4" neck, a bit on the thick side... and it'd be kinda cool if it had a Webber label inside.

I have no idea. Or I have too many. I could list dream specs, but an hour from now they'd be completely different. I'm a lunatic. I need one of everything.

Man, I am waffling like crazy. Have an 000-28H on order, scheduled to arrive 6/30. But I'm all over the place with it. Preemptive buyer's remorse... Not that I think I wouldn't love the thing, but I've been playing three freakin' years and I couldn't possibly argue that I actually need another guitar at this point. Can I hold off my guilt and wild impulses for two months? My guess would be no. Loudest of the voices in my head - this hour - is telling me to buy an OM-21 for several hundred bucks less 'cause at least I've tried several and know for certain I'm crazy about the model...

But there are other voices. There's the 00-18V voice... and the Larri OM-60 voice... and the Larri 000-50 voice (that sounds curiously like Kwak's voice)... the Breedlove Revival voice...

Where I am at this moment is everywhere. If I were to spec my dream git this minute, it would have to be some kind of Murphy body size that converts from a 000 to a jumbo with a detachable short scale/long scale neck segment convertible from 1-11/16" to 1-3/4" with a three-piece top of hog/cedar/rose, a three-piece back of hog, rose, koa with Brazilian hogwood sides with Waverly slothead tuners on the bass side and Grover Rotomatics on the treble side.

At least the Taylor is gone. Some sucker... er... some lucky guy snapped it up over the weekend.

An archtop, modern stereo f-holes, orange-to-yellow sunburst, 16", non-cutaway, with K&K pickups, spruce top, maple sides/back. Pretty simple really, it would just be really important to me that it have the right sound for chord melody, rhythm and lead lines.

My dream guitar would be a toss up of a true super jumbo or a large bodied archtop similar to the Brian Setzer style but with the 17.5" lower bout and a bit thicker. The color would have to be a dark but transparent blue with chrome trim, Sperzel or Grover locking tuners and a USA B6 Bigsby with roller bridge.

The real problem for me is there are far too many to list that I would like to own. You know that list just below the GAS must have list of dream guitars that often keep getting added to the herd because they are always there and a bit cheaper than the GAS list HD28.

My dream guitar would allow me to fret every single note cleanly and it would produce a perfect, well balanced tone with strong bass, rich mids and sweet highs.

Oh yeah, and it would make me the greatest guitarist of all time.:D

Two different animals Knock, but you know that. I love my OM, but that 000 elderly custom is fantastic. 1 11/16ths though. Is it short scale at least? These Goddarn 12 fretters have me sweating like a pig in a smokehouse. And since I already have one of the best guitars ever, it's like I'm buying a Bud Light when it's raining Newcastle.

All the animals in my wacky little GAS zoo are wildly different. Just goes to show the extent of my madness. The 000-28H is a 24.9" scale, which was a big chunk of the attraction. Plus I never use picks, but I like playing fingerstyle on 1-11/16"... and on 1-3/4". I tend to find 1-11/16" a little more versatile for my extremely limited bag o' tricks. Got me some small hands, and when I say "sausage fingers," we're not talking Italian sausages or kielbasa, but something more akin to Jimmy Dean breakfast links.

What I've decided to do about my GAS for the moment is nothing. Just sit and do nothing. That's my plan.

I don't think there's one ideal git out there. There're just too many that are too wonderful in too many different ways. You're right, though: Boobs would be good. Someone shoulda thought of that feature a long time ago.

I had some pretty serious GAS for a custom OM-35, actualy called Elderly and spec'd out two of them. One with the "1935" sunburst, quilted mahogany center wedge, ivoriod binding, low profile 1-3/4. The other was the same except with amberburst, flamed mahogany center wedge, and 1-11/16. All tallied up they would've been under $5000 for the pair if I remember right. Backed out for questionable employment reasons.

Maybe someday I 'll order them.

the guitar that i actually spend the most time thinking about (besides the ones i have) is an OM or 000 with rosewood b/s and a hog top... if for no other reason than that i've never seen it done before and i'm curious...

or at least it used to. This is a Washburn Monterey from the late 70's. Washburn doesn't make this model anymore. they say they cost too much to build. They make somethintg similar looking, but it's not the same guitar.
