Members kwcsports Posted May 14, 2006 Members Posted May 14, 2006 My 25 year old classical needs a refret, how much does it typically cost ? Thanks
Members whoop Posted May 14, 2006 Members Posted May 14, 2006 fret job is about $200 on any guitar. it depends primarily on labour costs, the actual material costs are quite minimal. make sure you get someone whose work you can see before you get it done, cos a bad fretjob can effectively kill a guitar
Members F-holes Posted May 14, 2006 Members Posted May 14, 2006 It's odd that a classical should require a complete refret. Hopefully you can get away the just a leveling/fretdressing. If you do need to have them replaced, you may want to just do it to the first twelve frets. The frets over the soundboard almost never see enough action to warrant replacing them. They are also the most labor intensive to replace. Which will reflect on the cost of the repair.
