Members Lgehrig4 Posted May 19, 2006 Members Posted May 19, 2006 Over the last 2 weeks I went on a little acoustic buying spree. First it was a Martin OM-21 and then the J-15(need a mahogany to compliment it Let me say that I couldn't be happier with both. I prefer the J-15 for strumming and OM-21 for fingerstyle of which I'm not good at either. Nothing contructive to report just yet. I'm just a kid on Xmas morning and my wife doesn't want to hear it. Oh, almost forgot! It came with a humidifier that I've never seen before. I have a Planet Wave for my OM21, but this one is a 8-9" rubber tube with holes in it and appears to be some absorbant material on the inside. How do I use these? thanks jeff
Members kwakatak Posted May 19, 2006 Members Posted May 19, 2006 Congratulations! It must be serious GAS - you got a 2 for 1 deal and somehow got the wife to sign off on it. How do you do it? BTW - I think what you got there may be a Dampit but I've never seen one in real life.

We maintain separate accounts and I think it has saved our marriage. At this point I have so much crap that she doesn't notice something new unless she beats me home after UPS arrives.I'll do a search on dampit and see what I can find.

Members DonK Posted May 19, 2006 Members Posted May 19, 2006 I'm a Martin lover, so I've got more than a little envy! Those are two really nice guitars; enjoy!

With your collection you have nothing to be envious of You have good taste in guitars. I also have a Wolfgang Standard and EJ strat and you were the one who first suggested the OM-21. I'm gonna keep track of your sig to see what to buy next

I worked with a woman who had the same arrangement with her husband. She claimed that it was the result of advice they received in prenuptial counseling through their church.
Members Freeman Keller Posted May 19, 2006 Members Posted May 19, 2006 Two fine guitars - isn't a "quiver" nice? The thingie is a Dampit - soak it in water, shake it out, hang it between two strings and let it drape into the soundhole. I try to not let it lay on the label but otherwise just hang inside. Take it out before playing, otherwise you'll have a thread "I have this strange rattle in my new J-15". Enjoy
Members JasmineTea Posted May 20, 2006 Members Posted May 20, 2006 IMO!!! Those little humidifiers should only be used in the winter when it's dry in the house. If you over humidify your git it'll sound dead. Congrats on the big J-15. I bet it rumbles nicely.

I bought a humidity gauge so I'm just going to try and keep the humidity at 40% regardless of the season. The J-15 sounds like a guitar and bass playing at the same time. Love it!
