Members petegn Posted May 20, 2006 Members Posted May 20, 2006 Hi Gals and Guys Please don't kill me for asking a silly question that will get many "play and see which sounds/feels best to you" replies... But I am just hoping to get some advice on thoughts of others... really interested in a new guitar, no expert but this is a hobby I am sticking to, so here goes, Martin HD-35 OR HD-28V Which would YOU choose and why? Thanks in advance for the feedback Pete
Members knockwood Posted May 20, 2006 Members Posted May 20, 2006 No one's gonna get killed here, BUT... these two guitars are so wildly different, I think a lot of us would be wary of giving advice that might influence a choice between them. So there's my disclaimer. I wouldn't buy either of them. I really love boom in a rosewood dread, but I think both of these models are a little over the cliff for me. If I were forced to choose between them - which wouldn't be so horrible - I'd go with the HD-35 chiefly for the neck. While I've gotten a little cozier with V necks than I used to be, I'm still not certain I'd want to choose one for a lifetime, and I wouldn't spend that kinda scratch on a git unless I planned on keeping it. What I'd do instead, though, is change the choices to D-35 or HD-28. And I'd choose the D-35. The few I've tried have all sounded like my version of perfect.
Members petegn Posted May 20, 2006 Author Members Posted May 20, 2006 Now that is an intersesting move, I keep trying to hear the few hundred dollar scalloped bracing but the d-35 sounds pretty darn good! This will be something to consider. I am at a point where if I get a neck that's a V or a C I will be able to adjust and grow to it, the V is a bit odd but that's because all I really play is a Tele and a Martin DM, Thank you for the feedback
Members Michael Martin Posted May 20, 2006 Members Posted May 20, 2006 Neither. Martins aren't pretty. Buy a Gibson.
