Polyweb Problems

After about 20 hours of playing time, the coating on my Polywebs started coming off, anyone else experience that. Elixir is going to send me a new set and an envelope to send them back the defective set. They looked fuzzy, a closer look revealed the coating coming off the most heavily fingered or strummed parts of the strings

Man, if I can get Elixir to send me a new set every time that happens, I'll never have to buy strings again!!

Doesn't seem to affect the sound, though...

My 00 had a set on when I got them. My hard pickin made them look fuzzy and sound that way too. IMHO coated strings are like condoms. They have their place and time, but I'd much rather play around without the wrapper!

Either/or really. The PB Nanos don't seem to "shed" as badly but I still prefer non-coated PBs as a matter of personal preference: Martin SP Fingerstyle PB or John Pearse PB.

I'm also surprised that they sent you a new set of strings. It's actually common knowledge - and a frequent gripe - about Elixir Polywebs. I used to use them too and just made sure not to wear black! ;)
