Members Queequeg Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 Looks like most models will increase by $100. High end CFMs a bit more.
Members Jessz1 Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 That sucks... going to buy a martin tommorow....
Members Hudman Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 I'm pretty sure all of the major online retailers already marked their Martins up. I noticed a Martin price increase last month at Music123 and Musicians Friend.
Members bargains4you Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 They also raised the prices of thier strings to us dealer's as well. We use to be able to order our guitar strings direct but now we can only purchase them through distributors with a price increase.. seem's like something is up at Martin.
Members knockwood Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 Anyone know when their last price increase happened?
Members kwakatak Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 HARUMPF!!! As if Martin prices weren't high enough!

Members Jessz1 Posted June 1, 2006 Members Posted June 1, 2006 Price increase or not I am comming home tommorow with a 28 or 35.... That gibson Hummingbird sounded pretty sweet though...... grrr...
Members AtomHeartMother Posted June 1, 2006 Members Posted June 1, 2006 I hope that Taylor doesn't raise their prices between now and Friday; I'm picking up myself a 110 as soon as my sales guy gets in on Friday. On a related note, would a store still raise their prices on existing stock that arrived prior to the price increase? It seems like free money to them if they do.

It seems like free money to them if they do. Some stores will hold the line on existing inventory, but most smart businessmen and women will hike the price on their inventory so that they have enough cash to re-buy at the higher prices. As somebody who is old enough to remember the 1970s days of high inflation and interest rates, lots of businesses closed their doors and this is one reason. They just couldn't generate enough cash to reload. Seems that we are heading back into an inflationary period now, if you have been watching the Fed and/or the stock market recently.

Members bargains4you Posted June 3, 2006 Members Posted June 3, 2006 it has been at least 10 years on the guitar strings since they raised the prices.. I assume maybe the same with the guitars.. take a set of Darco banjo strings our price use to be .96 cent's npw $1.19...23cents a pack hike. but they are sold cheaper to the distributors though.
Members SpaceCowboy409 Posted June 3, 2006 Members Posted June 3, 2006 Mid to high-end Martins go up in price every year. The 000-28EC I bought in 2000 now goes for $550. more on the street. Better jump in now boys the water's getting deep.
Members Tony Burns Posted June 3, 2006 Members Posted June 3, 2006 if you know the dealer had the instrument in stock before June 1st, you might be ablle to use that as bargaining power-- but at 60 % of list your still getting a good deal.
