Members martingibson70 Posted May 27, 2006 Members Posted May 27, 2006 I played a standard red mim Nashville Tele. I loved the strat tones combined with the tele feel but I did not like the neck nor the looks of the guitar. Ever hear of anyone modding a "good" existing tele into a Nashville by changing the $10 switch and adding a middle strat pup($25-75)?
Members JasmineTea Posted May 28, 2006 Members Posted May 28, 2006 Yes, I imagine that's how it got started.
Frets99 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Yes, a number of people have made that mod. It's a matter of personal taste.

I've converted several, including my own MIJ tele (my '64 MIA is strictly un-modified). Recently, a client brought his back and is having me replace the original single-coil (neck P/U) w/ a Gibson tapped 'bucker, thus giving him a few more tonal colors to work with...bucker/bucker tapped (neck)/strat (middle)/Tele (bridge). Should be interesting!
Members martingibson70 Posted June 7, 2006 Author Members Posted June 7, 2006 Great info. I especially liked the tele mod web site. That made me feel better about modding an already great guitar. I went for it. I dropped it an extremely reputable shop. They are also grounding and spraying the bridge pup to reduce noise, and tweaking the setup. Total cost $150. I've gotten guitars repaired and set up here before. They always come back better. BTW, I just traded my Rivera Pubster 45 for a 1968 all original Super Reverb.
Members tiger roach Posted June 7, 2006 Members Posted June 7, 2006 G&L makes a 3-pup version of the ASAT that is worth looking into as well.
