Members dt3k Posted June 7, 2006 Members Posted June 7, 2006 I'm looking for a guitar suitable for folk type playing eg.g. picking and strumming with good sound and balance across the range. Would the Martin OM-35 be a good choice?

Members tiger roach Posted June 7, 2006 Members Posted June 7, 2006 OM's are known more more for fingerpicking, but there's no reason it couldn't be used for what you describe. Especially a fine example like the OM-35. By 'picking,' do you mean flatpicking or fingerpicking? If the former, maybe a dreadnought would have a richer tone for you.
Members dt3k Posted June 7, 2006 Author Members Posted June 7, 2006 Fingerpicking...not sure what flatpicking is to tell you the truth! Want to use it for English Folk stuff.

Want to use it for English Folk stuff. to "flatpick" is an American term for using the triangular plectrum (or "flat pick") to strum or pick out individual strings, as opposed to fingerstyle. Most folks consider an OM to be a good all-around guitar for general purposes.Good choice!

I'm really a fan of the OM28V, the OM18V, or GE myself.
