Members CTrain Posted June 11, 2006 Members Posted June 11, 2006 I made a thread a while ago about getting a new acoustic, originally wanted the jumbo Tak. However, I've recently played and and fell in love with the Breedlove AD20/SR Plus. Anyone have experience with any Breedlove models? This thing looks and sounds amazing, but its pretty pricey for me, so I want to make sure its something I want to invest in... Thanks alot in advance
Members guit30 Posted June 11, 2006 Members Posted June 11, 2006 it's subjective, American made ones are great

Members thedep3158 Posted June 11, 2006 Members Posted June 11, 2006 I don't own a Breedlove YET, but I've played them a lot checking them out. I've been impressed with all the ones I've played. I am presently saving up for the AC/25SR, which is the same one that Working Dog has. I'm trading in my Ovation Balladeer on it. I say if you like the Breedlove you've tried, that speaks more than any opinions we may pass on from here. Enjoy the search,Dep

Members working dog Posted June 11, 2006 Members Posted June 11, 2006 To be more helpful......the woods are very high quality, the construction on mine is flawless, they are made in Korea but inspected and set up at the American plant. I stalled for over a month.... not sure that I wanted to or could justify spending close to a grand for a guitar, but I would now do it again in a heartbeat. I'll never get rid of this guitar. The funnest part is handing it over to someone and watching the look on their faces as they play a few chords. I know I sound like a schill, but everone who touches this guitar loves it. You will love yours also.

I know when I picked up that AC/25 SR and hit a few chords, I had this stupid grin on my face that I couldn't get rid of. My son was there and he asked me what I was smiling about. Can't wait to get mine! Dep
Members 7and7is Posted June 12, 2006 Members Posted June 12, 2006 hey, I actually just had a product seminar with the Breedlove reps.. very cool guitars. they have alot of cool ideas and cool features.. like scallop bracing. I got to sample a few and the ones that I played had very nice action, the inside was very clean, it was a very clean and pretty guitar overall... the only thing I don't dig is the headstock, although they do have the older series (I think they're the Nostalgic series?) with the Martin plank-headstock. very nice people, they really like the products they make and although I wouldn't buy one they're definitely green light.
Members dadgad7 Posted June 12, 2006 Members Posted June 12, 2006 I agree with whoever said, "If you like it, then buy it!" I don't own a Breedlove YET either, but will someday,I did a clinic with Ed Gerhard, huge spokesperson for Breedlove, I actually got to play his personal guitar, which, of course was out of this world !! This was when the Korean Altas' were just coming out, so he had one there, I played it and loved it. Breedloves are so friggin nice I couldn't even describe it. Now I love my Tak, but, I'd throw her under a train, along with my ex-wife for no apparent reason, to get a Breedlove! the Focus is what I'm saving for. Anyway, good luck, and all else aside, if you go to a music store and find a bottom of the line Epiphone, or whatever, and you dig it, then buy it! doesn't really matter what we all say in the end...
Members MrOuch Posted June 12, 2006 Members Posted June 12, 2006 I own the AC25SR Plus. It is an awesome guitar. Finish, sound, playability, it has it all. I think it would compare favoribly with any guitar at twice the price. But, as has been said, it is what you think when you pick it up and play it.
Members Freeman Keller Posted June 12, 2006 Members Posted June 12, 2006 Back in January I was visiting my home town and trying to deal with moving my folks into assisted living. I was pretty stressed out, so I stopped in a little music store that advertized vintage instruments. They didn't have much, but there was a Breedlove, one of their "Master Class" or something - the clerk handed to me and pointed me to a quiet room. I took off my watch and belt (the wood was simply incredible) and played for maybe an hour. What a completely lovely guitar for fingerstyle - other than some of the styling (love it or hate it) there was absolutely nothing I could fault about that guitar (well, maybe the $5K price tag). I went back to the issues with my parents totally rejuvinated.
Members Sparkout Posted June 12, 2006 Members Posted June 12, 2006 I bought the AC250/CR (has a cedar top) and could not be happier with it. I am absolutely the worst player in the circle of friends I play with. Every one of my friends who play have been very impressed with this guitar, and I trust their evaluation.I can tell you the tone is very sweet and full, and that the craftsmanship is outstanding on mine.
