Members caseykey118 Posted June 17, 2006 Members Posted June 17, 2006 Right now i'm debating the option of selling my electric guitar and amp. If i sell my electric guitar, amp, and pedals i assume i'd be able to get 1200 out of it (or more). I'm heading off to college this fall, and playing through a 5150 combo amp in my dorm room probably isn't a good idea. I really love electric guitar, but i never really played acoustic either, and i'm hoping to work on my voice. Tell me if you think i should sell all my gear to get a good acoustic, and why? also what guitar should i get for the 0-1500 dollar range lol? thanks, Casey
Members ESL94 Posted June 17, 2006 Members Posted June 17, 2006 Casey, A couple of things to consider & think about: - What if you meet new musicians that want to jam or start a band? You may have wished that you had not sold your gear, & you may to buy new gear. You may find that other people in your dorm are music friendly & bring their own gear. We used to jam in the dorm or right in front of the dorm. - Do you know if you will have a roommate or others that will have access to your room when your not there? Lots can happen when you

I'm really just considering buying an acoustic and keeping my electric.... but mine as well have a plan either way.

I have a lot of great electric gear, but there was no way I was going to be taking any $1000+ electric guitars or amps into a college dorm. Like you, I headed to GC to try some stuff out. After being pretty disappointed in the lower-priced Martin/Taylor/etc stuff, I picked up one of the Breedlove Atlas series axes that they had hanging up. It sounded and played great, and i managed to snag it for $500 even. I think it's an AD20/SM model, if you're interested.
