I have messed up more recordings trying to add just a bit of reverb, aka "gverb" with the free download version of Audacity DAW. First I tried the default settings. man, was that a mistake. like shooting a squirrel with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

I know Kwak and Hudman & a few others are using Audacity. Can we get a screen shot of your gverb settings. I don't even know what 1/2 of those settings actually mean or are supposed to do. It would be nice to subtly sweeten a recording just a wee bit. All of mine are bone dry. And every time I've tried it gets over done in a really big way; like it was recorded inside a garbage can with a Leslie speaker and half full of water. (Only worse.)

Multiple thanks

big help. thanks very much, brahmz118.

not only better settings to try than the defaults, but explanations for each of those settings, as well.

Sorry Queequeg but I never figured out how to add reverb.

The link above looks like a great place to start. I'm going to check it out too.

GVerb sucked for me too, which is why I looked around and downloaded ANWIDA Soft DX Reverb Lite from this link:

It's a free pulugin that integrates seamlessly into Audacity. Here are the settings that I used for my recent recording of Pete Huntlinger's "Get A Klugh":

FYI: I also do a bit more than just run the reverb. If you're interested in what else I do, let me know. It's kind of hard to describe so I'd have to do some screen prints to help explain and that will take some time.
