Members t60 fan Posted June 23, 2006 Members Posted June 23, 2006 Test drove two Taylor GS's and an R. Taylor style 1 yesterday at Wildwood Music. First I played a sitka topped flamed maple GS, and was surprised at how mellow yet loud it was for that wood combo. Very articulate of course, but still warm. Then I played a red cedar topped rosewood GS - instant stonecold love. I actually felt like a real guitarist playing that one. Fingerstyle was effortless, and strumming just induced irrepressible grins. Then Don brings out the R. Taylor. Guys (and gals), this is the finest guitar my clumsy hands have ever touched. I don't know what adjectives to blurt out - just holy crap! Some day I will have one, no matter what anyone else thinks of Taylor, or Bob himself. That guitar is what i want the ultimate sixstring to sound/feel/look/play like.

I really loved it - more volume than any other cedar-topped guitar I've played. I didn't play it very long (15-20 minutes tops) but it seemed as though it would be more versatile than other cedar-tops.
Members Queequeg Posted June 23, 2006 Members Posted June 23, 2006 ooh! Hey, I've never bashed Taylor here. I'd like to try one of those!
Members t60 fan Posted June 23, 2006 Author Members Posted June 23, 2006 That R. Taylor may have ruined me. I have never, and I literally mean never, played an accoustic that played that easily. Better than most electrics. If I hadn't played the R, that GS in cedar/rw would have me reeling right now. It was sweet. But that R...

I got to spend 20 minutes with each and the RW/C was very close to being an ideal fingerstlye guitar for me. I still like my OM-03R better though, especially since putting a bone saddle on it!

I was more excited over it's arrival at your place than I was bringing my new 12-string home yesterday.
