Members ace1979 Posted June 22, 2006 Members Posted June 22, 2006 sounds great...I love that song...when I saw them live last fall they played it and then went straight into ring of fire...very cool...do you have the tab for Kingdom Come or did you just figure it out? would love to learn it..
Members onetubetone Posted June 22, 2006 Author Members Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks ace, it is a great song. The way I play it isn't exactly how coldplay does it, though it sounds quite similar. In the coldplay version, it sounds like the guitar is in an open tuning, probably capoed to get a really strummy-sound to compliment the piano, which provides much of the bass. Since I don't have a piano part, I wanted my guitar part to provide some of that booming bass sound. So I tuned to Eb standard, but with the low note a Cb: Cb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb So you can just use the form of a C chord (0 3 x 0 1 0) and move it up and down to get a good approximation of the verse part, with that booming C in the bass. The prechorus ("those wheels...") is just Am, F, C. The chorus is F, C, F, C, F, Am, then another moving C-form part. In my recording, there's some double-tracking on the guitar to add fullness, but that's essentially it.
Members thatsbunk Posted June 22, 2006 Members Posted June 22, 2006 It's real nice... at points it almost sounds like you're playing a 12 string. did you record the vocals seperately?
Members onetubetone Posted June 23, 2006 Author Members Posted June 23, 2006 thanks, b-flava. Yah, two guitars (3 on the chorus), and vocals, all recorded individually. I have to do it like that if I want stereo acoustic tracks... the MBox2 only has 2 mic inputs.
