ran across one I really liked about 5 months ago. I just couldn't buy it at the time. I am a big fan of the 16 series for getting into a Martin. Affordable and well built. Then, you can move up to an HD28 or D35 or something else.

i bought on brand new and i have had so many problems with it. at the heel of the neck, it is coming away from the body. there are two cracks that came from releativley small bumps (i cant blame that completely on the guitar). the truss rod is SSSSOOOO tight. it is rediculously hard to turn. im so afraid that im gonna put in the umph that it takes to turn it and its gonna catch and then there goes the neck. ive had bad luck with the pickups ive had in it as well (again not the guitar but it adds to the frustration).

Sorry you are having problems, I think no guitar company is perfect, there will be a problem here and there, hope you get things straightened out.

My Alvarez has been out at the factory for a month now with neck problems

at least the martin has the warranty. i can live with a crack in the finish. i need to take the guitar to the authorized repairman but its like three hours away. oh well, the price to pay to be a musician.

I had it down to this guitar and a Larrivee L-05 on my last go round. The Larrivee, of course, is one or two rungs higher on the price ladder, so it is not a strcitly fair comparison. The Martin recieved serious consideration in part because it was a couple of hundred less than the the Larri.

I adored the neck on that Martin and found the rosewoods sides sexy, for lack of a better word.

As a final test, I had a good friend/good guitarist come to the store and play both to me at length. That's where the Larri prevailed. But the Martin is a nice guitar for sure.

I have an SP000-16R, and I use it way more than my HD-28. I LOVE it. My model is the same as a reg 000-16 but has aging toner, a Fishman soundhole PUP, solid rosewood, elaborate mother of pearl on the fingerboard and soundhole rosette, and tortoise shell binding. The thing sounds really, really good. I lucked into it used, had it reset and restrung w/Elixir strings, and couldn't be happier.
