Members Dawn Posted July 11, 2006 Members Posted July 11, 2006 Well I spent 3 days with my AJ500M. This guitar is amazing. The tone very warm, the neck incredibly comfortable but it just wasn't what I was after. I returned it yesterday and picked up the DR500P instead. This guitar was exactly what I was looking for. Slightly bigger body, Sitka Spruce top, Maple sides and back. It gives me more volume now and the only way I can describe its sound is that it chimes. It also has remarkable sustain, and midrange , and truly exceptional bass response. I've never heard a guitar sound like this before and it was exactly the sound I had in my head when I was looking for a new accoustic. I wanted to be sure I was buying the right guitar, hate having to return {censored} so I compared it to a bunch of $2000.00 Taks, Tacomas and Taylors. Hate to say this but I played one or 2 chords on those guitars and almost cringed. They didn't even come close to this guitar as far as tonal quality.. Reminds me a lot of the Martin D series but even more beutiful and bright. I picked up a set of Elixer PH and what a difference these strings make. Man... I can't put this git down for the life of me. I do plan on picking up the AJ500M again a bit later. cash alowing because I feel that guitar has it's place also. The Masterbilt series should be illegal. I just don't get how they put out such incredible guitars that rival even the most expensive brands at a fraction of their cost. EDIT: I'll post some pics when I get my digital back from my ex...lol.
