Members murphj1 Posted July 14, 2006 Members Posted July 14, 2006 i wondering if you guys ever have a spam thread? is there a good place to go to try to sell/trade an acoustic guitar?i have a martin d35i'd like to trade/buy a gibson i'm thinking j-45. any advise
Members Sweb Posted July 14, 2006 Members Posted July 14, 2006 Well, should get a little attention here. Yea, there's a gear/sale forum on the main page. There's also other sites like Larriveeforum.com with a gear/sale area. Bought a guitar from there myself. You must be stoked on that Gibson because that D-35 is no slouch of a guitar.
Members kwakatak Posted July 14, 2006 Members Posted July 14, 2006 I like the idea of a monthly spam thread like they have on the electric forum, but the mods don't come around all that frequently. We used to have a spam thread but it was getting really long so we basically requested that it be deleted. Feel free to spam away. If there's any interest it should keep afloat. I'd also advise that you post your SPAM on the UMGF. You will probably get more interest over there.

Members murphj1 Posted July 14, 2006 Author Members Posted July 14, 2006 actually the effects forum is now doing a weekly. that is delleted every sunday by moderator. and he starts a new.
Members Freeman Keller Posted July 14, 2006 Members Posted July 14, 2006 I agree with Neil - here is the UMGF buy and sell UMGF buy and sell forum The other advice I would give, regardless of where you list it is to take some pictures showing the neck angle, bridge and saddle, and action height (particularly if it is an older guitar). That will tell a prospective buyer where it stands relative to expensive work. If you are the original owner and it is needing neck work have it done first under warranty, then advertise it as "just had neck rest, action is blah, blah, blah..." Obviously if it is brand new this is a moot point - but on an older git it is a big deal. The other advice would be to include a pic of the back if it is particularly nice - that is the selling point on a lot of D-35's. And of course if it is an old one (Braz) sit back and watch the bidding war begin.
Members DooDads Posted July 14, 2006 Members Posted July 14, 2006 Find an older slope shouldered J-45 and play it for a while. The shorter scale, mahogany side and back will make it sound much different than your D 35.I've always loved Gibsons since my 1st guitar (in the '60's)was a LG-1. The newer Gibsons can't compare to a vintage one.good luck
Members Tony Burns Posted July 14, 2006 Members Posted July 14, 2006 Ive had a few Gibson Acoustics over the years , thou i thought they were decent - they didnt quite have the tone or volume i like - thou my Greven DXN Jumbo White Lady -is basically a Gibson jumbo on steroids -but i have to be in the right mood to appreciate it -- i guess im more of a Martin person than a Gibson person , but i hate classifing people that way , maybe i should look at gibson again , might be a nice change.( Am tempted to try a hummingbird )
