Members stratopedia Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 Which one? DW9 ($330) or F730S ($270) or LL6 Sunburst ($500) The LL6 is the maximum amount of my budget but I'm still wondering if it's worth going for the LL6 or should I just settle for the F730S/DW9. Any owners around here? Experience to share? I've read the forum's archive and the user review page but I guess I would get some neat feedback around here. Thanks a lot guys!
Members yamahaguy Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 I have the FG730s and am very happy with it. It has laminated rosewood sides (but they look very nice!) and back, and a very nice solid spruce top and it sounds great. It also has good sealed tuning machines. There is a nice pearl/abalone inlay around the soundhole and a nice cream/black binding all around the guitar as well. I would look into the solid wood guitar if I were you and could afford it, but you can't go wrong with the FG730s - it is a very nice guitar.
Members babablowfish Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 Play each one and pick the one that sounds and plays the best to you. What anyone else thinks is secondary at best.
Members djsrc Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 I'm not familiar with those YAMS, but the LL6 looks like a real beauty. (Do they all have truss rods?) I've always wanted to own a guitar with an EBONY fingerboard. That is a goal I have yet to achieve. As was already said, it really matters what YOU think of those choices after trying them yourself. Good luck!
Members daklander Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 As mentioned already, play them all if possible and choose the one that speaks to you. Otherwise, the LL6 would be my unplayed choice.

Members stratopedia Posted April 14, 2006 Author Members Posted April 14, 2006 Yeah and apparently I was the last one to buy it before it went out of stock. I only had a chance to play it for some 30 minutes just now and it's simply marvelous. Very bright and nice projection. I'm in class now. Can't wait to go home and strum away. GuitarPlaza.com is the only other dealer who carries the L series; American online dealer that is AFAIK.

There's not many things better than getting a new guitar.

Members stratopedia Posted April 15, 2006 Author Members Posted April 15, 2006 The label inside is made out of some leather/pvc material -- I'm really impressed with Yamaha. I got my first Eterna some 10 years ago and still have it. This would be an ultra smoking upgrade but rest assured I'm gonna be loving the Eterna still. Banzai Yamaha!
Members postalsock Posted July 29, 2006 Members Posted July 29, 2006 honestly the fg730 isnt worth the extra 50-100 dollars. I bought the Fg700s and in my opion much better sound. Very bassy. The highs dont sound extravegant at first, but after the first few days the sound is quite decent for 200 dollars.honestly its a great guitar. as for the handcrafted one that sounds nice, but a little pricey for laminated sides and back. I would say dont get a fg730 and instead get the fg700S solid spruce top for 200 dollars man. The Dw9 seems nice. I havnt heard the sound though. You have to tell yourself is the dw9 really worth 150 dollars more.
Members Blackwatch Posted July 29, 2006 Members Posted July 29, 2006 I'm really a believer in buying a guitar that you think is really pretty and not just the best sounding. You will want to pick up a pretty guitar and play it.....
