I think it just depends on what kind of music you play and what type of sound you want. Check out their website. When you look at a model you can click on "shape" and it tells you what that guitar is best suited for

I prefer the x14's

someday I might want to seriously check out their 514ce
then again, if I spend that much, I'm liable to come home with a nice Larrivee or Lowden instead.

They're all good :thu: . I have a 10 series, but I really like the 14s a lot. That would be my next Taylor, I think. However the new GS body style looks like it would sound the best IMO. I've yet to get my hands on one.

Well, last weekend I purchased my first high end acoustic, a Taylor 814ce. I'll have to say that the Grand Auditorium size (the x14's) provides just enough low end on the guitar to keep me enthralled, but provides some amazing mid-range and highs.

Same impression here: GS rosewood/cedar and GS maple/spruce vs. 214, 314, and 414CE. Mids and trebles are good on both, but the -14s don't have as much bass as the GS and in my experience not nearly as much bass as dreads I've tried from Takamine and Washburn. The -14 has probably just about as much bass response as a (non Martin) OM.
