Members Cmogi10 Posted July 12, 2006 Members Posted July 12, 2006 Today I spent a couple hours at the lovely Victors House of Music in Paramus, NJ, great store, great staff, nice guitars. Spent the entire time in the acoustic room, which was nice and quiet (with the exception of a mom who came in with her two kids and an electric violin...WTF?? Ouch, my ears havn't recovered) Started with the gibsons... boy was I disapointed , it was a dull uninspiring bunch. I really wanted to like em, but it did nothing for me. Next off played some seagulls, good guitars, unfortunatly they didn't feel right to me. They had a breedlove dread, and it was real nice, It stayed in my lap for quite a while. Next target with the taylors. I own a 714CE and that's the only guitar up until now that really blew me away. They all sounded nice and played really well, it just wasn't what I was looking for. Finally the Martins, this was where it was at. Side by side they had two gorgeous OM's, an Eric Clapton and a John Mayer. WoW! out of this world! Tone and playability for days. It came down too one of these too and the John Mayer just took me too school. I liked the neck better then the clapton, and the onboard electronics sounded good and everything was flawless. So I took it home
Members Hudman Posted July 12, 2006 Members Posted July 12, 2006 Cool! It's hard to go wrong with a Martin.Let's see some pictures.

Members WaveRay Posted July 13, 2006 Members Posted July 13, 2006 GOD, I love shopping for a guitar. Only problem now is this is the furthest you can be from shopping for your next one. enjoy the Mayer. I just posted a trade option for an older Martin because I can't wait for my new one to age. But, I've also considered an OM for a next guitar. The fingering sounds really nice on one. Congratulations. You gotta be lovin it!

Hopefully I will be working at Victors in the near future, Great staff, Steve in the guitar section is one of the nicest guys to deal with. So much guitar store bashing going on, but having an awesome one near by is a nice luxury.
