Members zinzin Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 i have tuned my seagull s6 in nashville tuning for some recordings. now i only have one acoustic guitar and need it again in standard tuning.is it safe to turn the strings loose and take 'em off with a chance of re-using them later when i need some nashville tuning again. or won't this work?
Members dwerlin Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 are the current strings no good for standard tuning
Members Whalebot Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 Take em off, they are not going to sound very good if you re-string with them. Buy a set of Nashville tuned strings, unless that's already what you did.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 there's pretty much no chance of reusing strings...
Members guitarist21 Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 Being the cheap person I am, I've tried to reuse strings and then almost always end up breaking at the tuner. Or I find they're not long enough and i try and hold the string while turning the knob AND keep it in place at the nut, usually done with my foot or my tongue or my little brother. Ellen

What you have here, I think, is an excellent reason to buy another guitar. Hey, some days it doesn't take much.
Members da mayor Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 O.K., I'll bite. What the heck is Nashville tuning and why do you have to remove the strings when your done witht that?

The strings are removed and replaced with the Ocatve strings from a 12-string set, or something like that. Very jangly.

Members Rickkkk Posted August 1, 2006 Members Posted August 1, 2006 Nashville tuning ... I'll be damned. ... Replacing the lower 3 strings with the high octave strings from a 12-string ... Never heard of that before ... This forum certainly can be a good place to learn ...Cheers !
