Members mvg2 Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 So i won a M6 off of ebay ~1week ago. the description said a couple of surface scratches..ok... I then emailed the seller if there is anything else wrong and the reply was along the lines of "no." Upon opening the case the guitar had MANY dings/scratches and a slight crack in one spot and this So after a day i decided to sell it, only once the buyer bought it, i had to refund the money because it was simply immoral! The original buyer asked if i wanted a partial refund and i said no, i want a FULL refund as i was taken. Now i cant get in touch with him.. Now i know i done F*&K*D up, but.. Is there anything i can do!? For those who reply im advancing a thank you!
Members Hudman Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Does it effect the guitar's sound or playability? If no, keep it and write it off as a learning experience. You can dispute the sale through Ebay. I'm not sure it will get resolved.
Members mvg2 Posted March 22, 2006 Author Members Posted March 22, 2006 ya i question the resolution to. i just feel completely manipulated. I haven't noticed any effect on the sound, but it was there when i got it so i really dont have anything to compare it to. The other kicker is, not only does it have the cracks, i simply dont like the feel/playability of the guitar either! I have absolutely no desire to pick it up! (partly because of its history....) so now i just have a mistake that sits in the corner of my room...
Members Theboat Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Hey, If you don't want to play it, won't you part with it for a reasonable price? My friend needs a good beginner guitar, and A M6 would be great. Hit me with a private message if you are interested

An "M6" is a Seagull acoustic, I have the gloss version. A very nice reasonably priced and performing guitar. "0wne3d" is internet speak for "you got {censored}ed".

LOL..when i saw "0wne3d" i had to look it up! Sadly, i have come to the conclusion that's the truth. I refuse to "write it off as a learning experience" though. i think im going to place it in the great depth of repression. Damn it!
Members Tony Burns Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 not sure how you paid for it - if you paid for it VIA Paypal, they will act as a go between when you dispute the charge-their site will explain it. If you paid for it VIA Check, call your bank and put a stop on it ( if it hasnt cleared ) If you paid for it with your Visa/Mc card you can sometimes dispute it with your bank -if you paid for it via, cashiers check its over !!!- If you leave a negative feedback for the seller, it will definitely hurt them - but then they will retailiate and leave a bad feedback for you ( even thou its a lie )-- In the future, use Paypal -- this same thing happened to me, bought a mandolin that i was told was made off Rosewood and that it was perfect, it was made of Mahogany and the top was crushed ? they wanted payment by cashiers check and after they cashed it, they waited about a week before they sent it-end of my lesson- By the way, i dont buy anything on Ebay anymore ! The bad sellers ruin it for the honest ones !
Members mvg2 Posted March 23, 2006 Author Members Posted March 23, 2006 thanks for the detailed reply Tony. Im filing a claim right now at paypal but have a question for you. PayPal says it may take 30 days for the investigation to complete, how long did yours take? As for ebay i got a great deal on an ibanex S470 sometime ago but its deals like this that, yes!, completely ruin it. it also shows why children (im almost positive thats the the group my seller falls into) should not handle more adult and mature financial interactions!
Members Tony Burns Posted March 23, 2006 Members Posted March 23, 2006 Usually ( from own expeience ) it scares the hell out of the seller, seller accounts can be easily locked up , and seller's are terrified about this - usually the seller responds with a suggestion, you either say yes, no or offer your idea for a solution - it might be to your best interest to really think about this - you might not get the exact result you want -- if it goes further, it might involve a resolution consultant - which could posssibly result in a fee . But honestly most dont go that far - but they can ! But if you can hang in their, and be patient ,it usually works to your advantage.

Members knockwood Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 I've had decent luck so far with online purchases, but "luck" is the right word. I seem to be hearing an increasing number of bad stories about eBay git sales, which is a terrible shame since there are no doubt a ton of honest people out there and some great deals to be had. Purchasing through a reputable retailer online is one thing, and I can't rule it out because there are some guitars I simply would not be able to find locally, but I'm through even thinking about buying a git from Citizen X on eBay.
