Members ZJD Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Hey everyone, I don't really hang out here that much so I don't know what's going on in the world of acoustics, but I am thinking of picking up one soon. My price range is a loose $700-$1000. I'm looking for an acoustic electric that sounds good live and I'm not really looking to get a Taylor. What do you guys think would be good? Thanks for your replies.
Members Rada Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Well, what kind of music do you play? Do you have a body style preference? Do you have a wood preference?

Members Rada Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 I'd REALLY recommend looking into a Seagull, Simon & Patrick, or a Norman with a spruce top and maple back and sides Seagull Cameo CW http://seagullguitars.com/productcameocw.htm Simon & Patrick CW Flame Maple http://simonandpatrick.com/showcasecwflamemaple.htm Norman B50 http://normanguitars.com/modelb50.htm Or you can look into a Parkwood Jumbo http://parkwoodguitars.com/guitar_pw340fm.htm
Members ZJD Posted August 10, 2006 Author Members Posted August 10, 2006 Bump for the morning crew. Also, thanks Rada for your reply.
Members JasmineTea Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Dude, that avatar is freakin' me out...wtf.. In your range you've some pretty good options. Martin 16 series and Larrivee 03 series Subtract 35-40% from the prices you see listed.

Members theGOOCH Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Taylor-210E-Dreadnought-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=514896 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Taylor-310CE-Dreadnought-Cutaway-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=514970 ...Not that I'm biased or anything No cutaway on the 210, and the 310 is a little higher than your budget, but don't get it there. You can get much better prices, they just won't be advertised..
Members Hudman Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Larrivee L-03 or L-03R is the best guitar in that price range (IMO). You can pick them up for $850.....
Members ZJD Posted August 10, 2006 Author Members Posted August 10, 2006 Awesome! I forgot about the Larrivee guitars. Thanks for the reminder.
Members Freeman Keller Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Or a used 3xxCE Taylor or Justin's SWOGT or our new member Tami and her line of Timberlines. I'll let you scoll down and find the threads or run the search engine....

Members chiro972 Posted August 12, 2006 Members Posted August 12, 2006 Breedlove AD25/SR plus. I just got one for playing in a church band and it is wonderful. Sounds fantastic just plugged into a DI into the PA.
Members Greg Bogoshian Posted August 12, 2006 Members Posted August 12, 2006 Anyone who has ever heard or played my Carvin C980 Jumbo has loved it or if they were looking for a guitar in that range bought one. www.carvin.com/cobalt I have had mine for at least 4 years now and it feels and plays like new, except a bit warmer from the soundboard aging.
