Members TamaThps Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 I bought my first acustic 2 days ago and im liking it. Its an Ibanez ael20e. Here are some pics Heres the electronics You can see the flame in the headstock, its also got a flamed maple top you can see i nthe first pic Heres a pic of the back And here it is in the case i got for it The guitar was $350 on the shelf and the case was $50. So total on that would be $424 with tax. One of my friends works there so he hooked me up very good. I got it for $280 total out the door. Thats what i call a deal =) I wanted something they had with a cutaway, but guitar centers selection of cutaway acustics in my price range werent very large. So i tried what they had and i liked this one the best, looks cool too Its got a built in tuner thtas kinda handy, and to my ears it sounds great plugged and unplugged. Only thing that I am not sure of is when i play it sometimes (only happens sometimes, not sure why) i get a buzzing noise from when i hit the low E and it sounds like its comming from inside the guitar, not fret buzz. Not sure how to find out what it is and if its fixable... Well thats my story
Members WaveRay Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Congratulations. Have fun with that beauty. I would definatly have a neutral party look inside for loose braces. Maybe the store would trouble themselves to look and fix any problems. If they dont, go find a luthier. New guitars are always great!
Members Freeman Keller Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Looks nice. One common cause of a buzz like you describe is that the ball end is not pulled up tight against the bridgeplate. Slack the string, pull the pin out a little, pull up on the string and reset the pin. Then sit back and enjoy!
Members Queequeg Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Congratulations! You're going to have a ball with that, TamaThps. as to the buzz: take it back up there and demonstrate it for them, and I'm betting they can make a quick & simple adjustment for you.
Members ESL94 Posted August 10, 2006 Members Posted August 10, 2006 Looks niceOnce you get it set up the way that you like it, you will not be able to put it down.

These little guys are hurtin mah fingers lol When you say its not tight against the bridge plate, does the mean like the ball end should be at the very bottom of the pin?Edit: I dont know if this will help better describe the problem, but when i tap on the bridge i can hear the buzz And thanks for all replys

These little guys are hurtin mah fingers Bridge pin pullers. They're on the edge of most string winders: little chunks out of the side and you slide it under the pin and pull. Pretty simple and painless. If you don't have one already, they're very cheap and easy to find.Look close at the left side of the winder, sorry its not a great view:Now if you're like me, you'll never be able to find the darn thing and you'll end up using pliers or screwdrivers or other random items to jerry-rig the little sucker out of there.Ellen

That's a nice looking guitar. You can use pliers to pull the bridge pins out. Place a thin rag over the pin to protect it from being scratched up by the plier teeth.
Members jackwr Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 The second picture tells me your still waiting to get your first acoustic.
Members thatsbunk Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 perhaps some of them electronical do-dads could be the source of the buzz
Members jackwr Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 I've heard those dangling wires can rattle a bit, but buzz inside is usually a ball end.
Members chiro972 Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 Congratulations on the new guitar. I hope you enjoy it. Hey postal sock, maybe if you kiss her ass real nicely your mommy will buy you a new guitar for you to throw around.
Members AK47 Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 Sounds like you love your guitar and got a great deal. This means you will have hours and hours of playing enjoyment from it. This can only mean your paying will get better and better the more fun you have. Don't let the critics get you down. I bet Clapton sounds better than them playing a Wal-Mart guitar. No offense meant. I just don't believe in knocking anyones gear. My favorite guitar is the one inspiring me at the moment. You like the looks, the way it sounds, and plays. There is no more inspiration that that. Play on.

Members MurderbyDeath Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 Who cares what assholes think....there is nothing wrong with a guitar's color. If you like the design, you'll love playing it. Plus that's great you got a deal on it. I need that sort of deal! To get the pins out you need to use pliers, I always break those tuning nob things that I don't know what their called....well whatever.

Haha close enough Thanks for the all the replys guys Ill probobly end up taking it back to guitar center, to see if they can fix what ever it is. Thats after i see if pullin the pins works.
Members steve_man Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 nice guitar. I just bought another Ibanez (I've had 2 others). For the money, they are great guitars! And I agree...forget what the critics say about it. If you like it, then play on playa!

The pins act as little wedges to hold the strings by kind of pushing sideways on the ball. They should not be in too tight. Here is another example of what I was suggesting you tryhttp://www.taylorguitars.com/global/pdfs/string_guitar.pdfBy the way, I think that is a nice guitar and I think you are really going to enjoy it. Ignore the riff-raff
Members Rickkkk Posted August 11, 2006 Members Posted August 11, 2006 Hey Tama .. nice guitar. Congratulations !Believe it or not, I carry around a regular dinner table fork to use on pins ... It fits easily in the case and does the job without damaging anything. Just wedge the pin between 2 of the fork's prongs and gently pull up ... sometimes with a little jiggling to unseat particularly troublesome pins ...Have fun and Cheers !
