Members onetubetone Posted August 15, 2006 Members Posted August 15, 2006 So I recorded this song. And it's rocking... it's got dark, malicious lyrics, an unusual yet subtle chord patter, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, solos, harmony, all orders of wonderment. BUT MY LAPTOP DIED Like irreparably kicked the bucket. Like send it back to Toshiba ASAP. Thank god I set ProTools to save everything on my external hard drive, so the session should still be there, waiting for me. However, my desktop does not have a firewire port, so there is no way for me to get to the song. So frustrating.
Members JasmineTea Posted August 15, 2006 Members Posted August 15, 2006 Peace brother. I know the feeling well. All my master tapes are in Germany, but even if I had them it would'nt do me any good because my ex sold the machine they were recorded on. Others were done with protools but the hard drive on the pc being used blew up, the back-ups were put on infurior/cheap disks that deteriorated. The last thing I tried was a Yamaha AW4416, way too complicated for an old yahoo like me.
Members postalsock Posted August 15, 2006 Members Posted August 15, 2006 year recordings a drag sometimes, keep workin on it though.
Members Cldplytkmn Posted August 15, 2006 Members Posted August 15, 2006 well if nothing else they should be able to recover most of what's on the hard drive... yeesh that sucks... best of luck with it
Members g6120 Posted August 15, 2006 Members Posted August 15, 2006 Good thing you have an external drive. That is what I keep all my music on because computer operating systems are just inherently unreliable. I recorde my music to analog tape and then converted that to digtal. That way I always have the master tapes.
