Members veil Posted August 18, 2006 Members Posted August 18, 2006 I've used Phosphor Bronze 12s on my Hummingbird since forever. But it needs a neck reset ( ) and I was looking for a solution to keep the action more managable. I gave silk and steel strings a try and I like the tone, and the playability is wayy better. Weeeeee

What guitars are you guys stringing with these sttel and silk strings. My D-28 sounds best (so far) with the SP's but I haven't tried a whole lot of other strings. Just been nothing I tried had the Martin sound for this particular guitar. Are you guys stringing dreads for flatpicking or OM's for fingerstyle? Thanks. Ray
Members S~R~O Posted August 19, 2006 Members Posted August 19, 2006 are All Y'all trying to string me along......I like/like'd the silk and steel string, real sweet sounding, but a little lacking in the bass freq.the other thing is........I felt the string life was a little shorter than some other brands/styles of strings.......I am trying the Martin fingerstyle strings right now....But I believe I'll be back to using the GHS pb stringsI change strings to often to buy those Elixers.....

They're copper wound strings, plated with silver (like all manouche strings, they are copies of the original Savarez "Argentine" strings).
