Yeah I probably shouldn't put it in the grass, whatever.

Just got this today, been wanting the Simon Patrick version, but those are a lot more rare, and this was close enough. It's the Artist Mahogany Folk. Grabbed it on ebay for about the price of a new non-artist, which I had planned on buying like four years ago. Looks like it's a NOS 2005. The trebles sound nice and sing-y, but the bass sounds a bit dead. Maybe the strings are just old. Or it's just the nature of the small body cedar guitar. This is my first steel string. I've had a classical for years. So far I'm happy with it, and wondering why I put off the purchase for so long.

Here are the rest of my acoustic/semi-acoustics, all Godin:

Sweet guitar. I played one in a shop once and really liked it. Lasido makes some nice guitars. A friend has a nice cedar dred. The only Lasido I own [i hate to say it on the acoustic section] is a Godin LG that I use for electric slide blues. I love my Lasido I hope you love yours too. Change your strings. I never leave the same strings on a guitar when I buy one.

Start with new strings. Good Mojo IMO :thu:

It's weird, for years I thought a classical was the only acoustic I needed. But then I was sitting outside playing earlier this summer and it got to me how little attack/presence my la patrie had, and I decided that steel strings just work/sound better outside. I've realised already that my fingertips are a bit soft though.

Not sure if the strings are dead or not. They're nice and smooth like new ones, but then the seller wasn't from the northeast where strings rust up in a week. I'll have to stop and get some after work tomorrow anyway though.

Haven't bought a new guitar in years. I'm used to buying used then having to clean the board and changing the strings in that process.

Wonderfull guitar you have there, you'll enjoy it.

I agree: change strings with new ones, a .12 gauge will do and will help get the bass out there.

I use .12 Elixir nanowebs on my Seagull S6+CW cedar top, an I like it. (I use them on my '76 dread also).

Still: remember this is a folk type, so the bass will render less boomy than on a dread type.

Play one of the larger Seagulls one day, to feel and hear the difference.

The folk type have a more balanced sound over the entire range. Nice for fingerstyleplaying.

Consider yourself lucky with your bargain.

Have fun!!!!
