Members jamminjames Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 So for all of you buskers out there. How do you dress when you busk? I mean yeah you wear whats comfortable of course... but how bad is too bad or how good is too good, baring in mind that perhaps your profits will be deminished if you dress too "up-scale" I ask because I am looking to start busking when I get some time to do so. Well hopefully I can get some help- James
Members JasmineTea Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 Clown suit. Occasionaly a gorilla suit. Looking into getting a chicken suit.

Members d28andm1911a1 Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 For non serious busking, waiting for the wife, an afternoon at the resturant that I play weekends, waiting for my doctors appt. I just dress as I normally would. Jeans, t-shirt or hawaian shirt and boat shoes in winter and cut offs the rest of the year. For serious busking what every I can find that makes me look stupid, funny or memerable. Shirt backwards, dumb hat, orange pants, what ever I can find, I'm still looking for just the right look.

Members Michael Martin Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 This makes me think of something my wife and I observed recently--not about busker attire, but (local, not big-name) rock and roll band attire. It looks weird when rockers wear shorts on stage (male or female), and it looks weird when girl rockers put their hair up like they might do for shopping at Wal*Mart, as opposed to either doing something with style or letting it go wild. We were noticing this at outdoor performances this summer. Just didn't seem quite right that the image of the person didn't fit the spirit of the music, I guess.
Members Godot Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 Once, when I was in Victoria, B.C. for a vacation, I saw a busker playing a violin while dressed as Darth Vader. I think I have a picture somewhere...
Members fingerpicker Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 Speedo in the summer time with cowboy boots and a straw hat. When its chilly out add a tight fitting shirt, neon colors also help. For some good rhythms, replace boots with tap-dance shoes.
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 Pretty much like all other performances...fedora or stetson, nice shirt, vest, jeans and my politically-incorrect Cuban crocodile boots (circa 1950s).

Members dwerlin Posted August 23, 2006 Members Posted August 23, 2006 what the hell is busking? playing in the street or subway for money or something?
