Members Old_Joe_Clark Posted August 29, 2006 Members Posted August 29, 2006 put it in its case and in the back of an SUV...sitting on top of some luggage. Place the neck end close to one of the rear side windows. Stop at an intersection on a busy divided highway and have someone plow into the rear of the SUV at about 40 MPH driving the guitar and case through the side window. now the case may get damaged and the CAT scan and emergency care and new car may be a steep price to pay....but wow...the guitar sounds great.

Members t60 fan Posted August 29, 2006 Members Posted August 29, 2006 Does the brand of SUV make any difference?

Members WaveRay Posted August 29, 2006 Members Posted August 29, 2006 Damn! And here I am playing mine like an idiot.
Members Geeter Posted August 29, 2006 Members Posted August 29, 2006 I will take that under advisement, but those damn other cars never want to cooperate.

Members Old_Joe_Clark Posted August 29, 2006 Author Members Posted August 29, 2006 Originally posted by Freeman Keller Old_Joe, you OK? don't really know yet. every day since it happened (saturday) some new stiffness or some new internal bruise shows up on the surface. Some of it's pretty serious and gross looking. I gotta get a follow up exam cause the emergency treatment only CATscanned my head since that was the only thing that was bleeding. But I get to work every day. So, I'm optimistic. Thanks for asking.

Glad you survived okay. 34 years ago, I got t-boned by a loaded dump truck. The driver ran a stoplight and plowed into my MGb. I got out of it with just a mild concusion. I consider myself very lucky. - Robert
Members Old_Joe_Clark Posted August 30, 2006 Author Members Posted August 30, 2006 Uh oh... upon closer examination.... I just noticed that my bass e intonation isn't great. the action seems high. 7/64 at the 12th fret. but I can't see anything that is damaged. !!!!!! Something is wrong.
Members JasmineTea Posted August 30, 2006 Members Posted August 30, 2006 Ah {censored}. I bet it's a broken brace. Got an extendable inspection mirror? Flash light? Good luck at the doc, man.
Members Bugsgalore Posted August 30, 2006 Members Posted August 30, 2006 Dang, I was hoping it was just an idea...not something that got put into practice. Thank goodness you are ok....hopefully your hands were not damaged.....nor the guitar. Take care and I'm sure the folks here will join me in sending some positive vibes your way. Cheers, Matt.
Members Blackwatch Posted August 30, 2006 Members Posted August 30, 2006 Coming home from a gig one night I went from 55 MPH to 0 in a space of 2ft. I plowed into a 64 Chevy that was stalled in a dark space on the Lake Washington floating bridge. To make matters worse the guy was waving his arms at me from the side of the road....just enough to take my eyes off his stalled car. But unlike your experience........my guitar sounded the same after the incident....even though the bright blue bruise from the seat belt felt REAL good as my guitar rubbed against it.............

No evidence at all of a problem. And the top isn't bulging and the neck isn't twisted. So...I don't know. maybe the jolt took some tension out of the truss rod. I'll have to take it up to Ithaca Guitar Works...if I have the money to have them check it out and set it up properly again.
Members daklander Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 Whew...Hope things aren't worse physically.Hope the guitar is ok too.
