Members shorei Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 I'm looking for a stand to hold my acoustic during live performance so I can switch between my electric and acoustic quickly.I didn't think it would be that hard to find one of these! Does anyone know where I can get one or even if it has a specific name? Thanks
Members dwerlin Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 you mean not just a regular guitar stand
Members STEELSTRINGS Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 You should be able to find them in about any music store.
Members rjoxyz Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 Take a look at Hercules stands. MF carries them as does Elderly. They are a bit expensive but well constructed, stable and hold the guitar at the headstock very securely. The guitar cannot fall off the stand inadvertently. They run about $25-30 for a single stand.
Members dwerlin Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 i want to interject one observation about hercules products...while they are good and their technology is great, your guitar is most definitely safe from being knocked/falling over while in the stand, i have the hercules wall hangers and they're just not padded enough for the guitar headstocks...parts of my guitar's headstocks rest on the plastic and not on the padded materials, and i've noticed a little bit of wear on the back of the headstocks from this.
Members rjoxyz Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 Dwerlin--I have not found that to be a problem. Is it just with certain headstocks or all? The only issue I have is the yoke is to wide to capture the ridiculously tiny headstock on a Blueridge 000 I have. I have 5 guitars hanging on Hercules stands (one is a triple) and they all rest on the padding.
Members dwerlin Posted August 31, 2006 Members Posted August 31, 2006 hmm, perhaps it's with the wall hangers only, i don't know. it's with what i consider to be standard headstocks, my Martin DX-1 for example, and my Epiphone Les Paul when i had it...i now have a Gibson Les Paul Junior and I won't put it up on those hangers. my friend got String Swings for his hangers, I'll probably buy those to put up my Gibson.
Members shorei Posted August 31, 2006 Author Members Posted August 31, 2006 After re-reading my question, I guess I wasn't clear enough. I've seen acoustic stands that hold the guitar in a "playing" position so you can wear your electric and walk up to the acoustic and play a little. I thought this would be an easy find at any music store, but guitar center-sam ash-zzounds-musicians friend-etc. etc. don't seem to have one. I checked the Elderly site and Hercules, but no luck. I couldn't find the MF site.
Members rjoxyz Posted September 1, 2006 Members Posted September 1, 2006 I completely misunderstood your question. Here you go: http://www.music123.com/Konig-and-Meyer-Acoustic-Guitar-Performer-Stand-i265041.music
Members shorei Posted September 1, 2006 Author Members Posted September 1, 2006 Holy C$%^! I didn't think it'd be $200. Now we need to decide if those few songs that need it are worth two bills.
Members WaveRay Posted September 1, 2006 Members Posted September 1, 2006 Just hang it from the lights! 20 lb test should do it.
