I don't know if any of you guys are in the same boat, but I travel for work.

I have just finished off a 16 day period of pure hell running between Indianapolis and St. Louis (too many freakin semi's on I-70) over and over again. I have been working long hours. Many times leaving the site near midnight only to have to find a hotel. And, then waking to head right out to another site again.

Anyway, My guitars are a thousand miles away and I have not had the time to search for and go to any shops. I'm about vibrating with GPS (guitar PLAYING syndrome) at this point. I have a 1:09 flight this afternoon to get back to my babies. One is named Randee and the other ones go un-named as of yet. It is increasingly difficult doing without your guitar(s) the better guitar you own. (subjectively) I can't wait to get home, open the case and linger a moment over the sound hole.

I just needed to vent a bit. Thanks for the forum.

You can often find a hotel directory by the doorway of most truckstops. It'll list a bunch of info about each hotel and give a ph# if you have questions or need directions.

I think the Martin 000X1 would make a good travel git.

Trucks: Truckdrivers are programmed to drive in the right lane on the freeway, left lane is for passing only. Also, many trucks have the speed governed, and no two are governed exactly the same, so they can't just step on the gas and pass quickly. One might be governed at 67 and is trying to pass another governed at 65.

Maybe this will help you in your travels.

If I don't get to play a little every day I get really edgy.

Why not get a small, cheap solid body electric and some kind of headphone amp. Something sturdy enough to survive being checked into the hold and cheap enough so that its destruction wouldn't be a big loss?

Sounds like you're working really hard - even 20 min. playing before you crash at night would be good for the head.

I bought a little Liberty resonator travel guitar and it's been great. I can take it on planes and keep it right beside me the whole flight so I never worry about it in the overhead. And It plays OK.

Get some kind of travel guitar....you'll love it. Good Luck

That's a guitar with the authentic Martin sound. Fantastic value IMHO. I always recomend it to beginners who ask, if they can stretch to thecost, to consider getting one - online if need be, (cause I'll do a setup if needed). Always better off than buying some piece of c*** of some store wall that would probably end up extinguishing any desire to learn to play pretty quick.

I know how you feel. I just came back from a week's vacation in Virginia Beach and jammed as much luggage for a family of 3 (including a playpen) as I could in a Subaru Outback but there was no room for a guitar. I could've borrowed one of those roof-mounted luggage carriers from my in-laws but my wife told me that that would be where the guitar would go!:mad:

BTW - are you referring to the stretch of I-70 west of Breezewood, PA all the way to New Stanton, PA that's part of the PA Turnpike? If so, I can sympathize. It's always under construction and the truckers have free reign to be as aggressive as they want to be.

Well, I was talking about the stretch from Indy to St. Louis. I'll fly to a city then drive around to the different sites in the route I'm working on. I figure I spen about 40 to 43 week a year in a rental.

I have tools and equipment to haul around so a guitar on the plane is way too much hassle, plus, once I'm on the ground, my luggage stays in the car all day while I work. I can't, in good concience, do that to any guitar I would want to play. I usually stay in a different hotel every night. A real pain in the ass, let me tell you. I use online services to get hotel normally but sometimes gett wsay too busy and not get the chance before I'm ready to leave. It's a real tough situation sometimes as last week was and I just had to vent.

I've been on the road across the country for 7 years now and drove I-95 between Ft. Pierce and Miami, Fla. the 13 years prior to that.

I'm tired.

17 months Randee retires and we go to Fla full time. I'm gettin off the road then and staying home for a while.

Then, I'll find an instructor and start making my guitars vintage.

Again, thanks for the forum.

Sounds like OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) I hear certain medications help it. You might want to consult a physician. Stress brings it on....The bit about naming your guitars is a big red flag.

Randee is my wife. My REAL wife. She's human. My guitars do not have a name. My wife's truck has a name, but my guitars do not.

Thanks for the concern.
