Members kof88 Posted September 18, 2006 Members Posted September 18, 2006 How's Takamine compared with Yamaha acoustics around the price of $150... Also available here is the Blast ( China brand ) which has quite a good review here and the Cort AD-850. Anything else to recommend around that price?
Members zenbu Posted September 18, 2006 Members Posted September 18, 2006 you all MUST be tired of hearing about my Yamaha Dynamics by now right? Just in case you`re not.....have a look around to see if you can find any of these little gems in your neck of the woods... I got my first one 3 or 4 weeks ago and can`t stop buying them. Up to 9 now, most expensive one was about $125.oo and the least expensive was $8.50 US. All solid wood by the way and from the `60s. The made three models for export... Dynamic 30, 50 and 70. One more bit of info...last Friday in my class I had the 2 regular students, both retired now. When I pulled out my book to show them pics... now I can deduct the price of the books on my income tax...the woman said...OH 1961, that was the year I got my first job. I asked her if she remembered how much she made and she said 10,000 yen a month. The Dynamic I got for $8.50 sold for 3300 yen...more than a weeks salary at the time. The top end model I got , the 100, sold for 9000 yen...nearly a months wages !...and according to my book only the most experienced luthiers worked on the 100 models...which by the way I picked up for $20.33. My point is this...extrapolating prices to nowadays, buying an all solid wood Yamaha made by their best luthiers today would cost me....well, check out the LL prices now. Those Dynamics are incredible and I can`t believe they were unknown to me until very recently. Doin my best to catch up though. Got an 80 coming, which I got off the web last night.
